Cox) and LoS 2 is all but confirmed for 2012 and we haven't heard a thing about IGA or the fate of the original timeline, it's a really depressing time to be a harcore fan of Castlevania right about now.
Or great if you happen to be a hardcore CV fan AND liked LoS

Even then, there's been no 25th anniversary announcement by anyone other than Cox, and he cant exactly do anything.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

I hate LoS because I'm disappointed in it. It had so much potential to be greater than it turned out, and the story could have been told in a much more clever and interesting fashion.

All I really wanted was Belmont vs Dracula and his familiar legion of darkness in a crisp, beautiful, 3D platforming action/adventure game.

I kinda agree. It's like, they got the graphics and gameplay close to being right(gameplay could've used more platforming, less shimmying and less QTE), they drop the classic approach(that I would've KILLED to see done justice). I guess is the change of times. I'd love to see an HD Final Fantasy game where the world is under the art direction of Yoshitaka Amano. Extremely ethereal-looking FF world, like you saw in the artwork for FFI-FFVI. It was something impossible to show early in the series, and now we have graphics that, well, COULD, doesn't mean we WILL get to see that...EVER. Cool looking crazy ass domes and spires all over the place, and characters with lots of strange, motley patterned garments, with jewels and dangles haning from their waist sashes and swords trimmed in gold, encrusted with gems all over the blades.  ;)

I would pay ALL OF THE MONEY to play that game.

On topic:

Lords of Shadow would make a good sub-franchise for Castlevania, in the same way as Modern Warfare has become a successful sub-franchise for Call of Duty.

Future games in the vein of Lords of Shadow should be titled in a manner akin to the Modern Warfare titles, where it's clear they aren't completely connected to the main series, which would continue to be released under the "Castlevania" name.

I would also pay all of the money for Lords of Shadow 2: Killing You And the Night, just for the title alone.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Man I hate not being hardcore enough.

You still need to kill 1,341 more Draculas, get the rare soul item ‘Lord of the Castle’, use it to unlock the door to the Mouldy Chamber, then whip the wall for the Pork Chop and guard it for eternity.

After 500 years, you will level-up and attain 'Hardcore' status.  However, soonafter, a new challenger will approach.  You will hand-down the Pork Chop to the Belmont-who-was-Dracula and depart, muttering, thus levelling-down and losing hardcore status.

You may regain it again if you tell some NPC kids to go kick ass and assist them in their endeavours.

Or even if they would do it in realistic models with an artist acting as a mediator(like Nomura, who despite his own style being way different than Amano's, CAN do a pretty damn good job in emulating Amano's style when he wants to, like in the Dissidia games). Either way, it would be a dream of mine for that type of game to come out. Will it happen? Probably never. Still, it's a concept I'd love to see nonetheless.

It's kinda the same with CV. I'd love to see a really good HD CV that revolves around the classic staples of the original canon. Barbarian Belmont, Bela Lugosi/Christopher Lee-inspired Dracula. All classic sub-weapons. Classic horror inspired monsters. ALL the classic bosses returning in some form(Frankenstein looking like Universal's version). Classic CV music to get our blood pumping and venture on into the castle of night. Well implimented Medusa Heads, Bone Pillars and Flea Men, to prove to naysayers that they CAN work in 3D.

If they want a make a 3D cheesy horror themed game, MAKE A 3D ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS.

Castlevania is a 2D-ish platformer. Leave it as such. Once you cross the boundary into 3D, it's not Castlevania. 2.999999999D would be acceptable, though.

That's my opinion.

No, because I want a precise point that make people hating LoS, and not having a full trolling response.

My honest opinion is that all of the above was bad. The plot, with a Belmont being Dracula, is just dumb. The plots twists are annoying and make little sense, important plot devices like the masks end up not even doing anything, and the characters were all uninteresting and uninspired.

The SotC elements just don't work. The Titans were the worst part of the game. Also, the shimmying was boring and not fun. It did not work at all in a Castlevania game. It was slow and lacked any tension or timing.

From a design point of view, the game looked dull. The colors were drab and boring. The monster designs were trite and boring. They didn't feel like enemies from Castlevania at all. It was like a mix of God of War and Lord of the Rings.

The music was also mediocre and typical.

It was just mediocre at everything. There is not specific way that it stands out amongst the tons of action games we have available right now. There is no reason why I would ever play Lords rather than Bayonetta or other recent action games that have a soul and are unique in at least some way. Lords is so mediocre its almost incredible.

If they leave it is as that, then the series would be as good as dead. Games should evolve and try something new not only to be succesfull at the market, but also to not become stale - exactly what happened with CV in the past years.

Though given how some people treat anything that is different from their own views of the series, such thing probably would be good for them. Less complaining about "how the series is not how it used to be". However there would be more complaining about how Konami "don't respect fans and don't want create a new CV game at all (not even LOS-like)".
In the end it probably would be a well deserved accomplishment for the complainers.  :)

There was nothing memorable about Agartha (or the other first 4 chapters for that matter), just waterfalls & plants & mayan-esque ruins everywhere. woooooooow..

Nothing really stood out. The castle was the best part of the game (and that tower area), but even that was limited.

it's funny how there are a lot more European LoS lovers defending it than anyone else.. prolly because fellow Europeans made it. damn haterz. i mean, even i hate us.
