It never ceases to amaze me at how big of an impact SOTN had on gamers. It's so distinct in every way. People I know who aren't even gamers know it.
About a year ago I was at work. I'm a ceiling installer/carpenter. I was on a lift 30 feet in the air blasting Yamane's SOTN soundtrack from my Bluetooth boom box. I was rocking Dance of Gold When all of sudden I hear a raspy voice from below yell "Castlevania!"
I look down and it's a concrete worker in his 40's covered in tattoos. And he's all like turn that shit up! Not to stereotype but in my line of work 9 out of 10 times all I ever hear other people listen to is mainstream rock or country. So usually I have my earbuds in. I had ruined them in the wash this particular week so I had the boom box.
I got off my lift and talked to the guy and he wasn't even a big gamer. Just loved SOTN.
I'll never forget that moment. I realized just how big the reach of that game and that soundtrack really is. It was quite inspiring.
Way to rock it Yamane!
