New game out on May 10th. Looks pretty darn nice. The dev team are classing it as a roguevania - Metroidvania with roguelite/like tendencies.

the idea of this is pretty great, i'm a few hours into it and enjoying it quite a bit.
certainly tough at the start... but the more permanent upgrades you get, the further you can get.

for a beta, it seems pretty much complete.
i've been playing this pretty much non-stop since i downloaded it.
unlocked an interesting weapon called "valmont's whip", very nice nod to CV.

Game is amazing imo. It sucks when you get weapons you don't like but still fun.

I like it better than Rogue Legacy, for sure. Though Rogue Legacy was also fun as hell when I went through it. Probably took me a good 50 hours before I beat that game. (though my estimate is flawed as I don't really remember how much I played.. could be 20, could be 100.)

All I can ever think of when I see this game's title is the "Dead Cell" antagonists from Metal Gear Solid 2.

Hopefully this game will let us go out in style, as prophesied by Our Lord, Hideo Kojima, long may he reign.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Who here has this?  Anyone?  When it says there is "Full Controller Support", is there a way to know what controllers?  I know I have a few games that are supposed to have controller support, but don't seem compatible with my PS4 controller...

just picked up the new update (from 8/2)

WOW, this is a REALLY good update!  whoever made this really knows what they're doing!
- game runs smoother with more effects
- the enemies look better
- new weapons/items/abilities
- gameplay mechanics more balanced

same link posted before will bring you to the update

My experience with the updates,
Fight the first boss, wreck him with every combo.
Update.
proceed in wrecking him.
Gets half-way down, all of the sudden...
He Wombo Combos you into instant death.

Yeah, Dead Cells is amazing, but I don't play it like other rougelikes, I pick it up every once in awhile to see where the rabbid updates have done to it.

Picked it up on last Steam sale.  It is very polished, and extremely addicting.  Hard to put down, combat takes me to an almost zen-like state.  Any fan of CV needs to get on this.
Been here since the 1st NES CastleVania.

Did it go on sale recently?!  If so, phooey on me!  I've been trying to keep an eye out for a sale since I'm just a few bucks short of being able to get it.
