I'm sure this will be old to some members (even the youtube upload was posted in 2015) but this is an apparently North American Castlevania commercial I don't recall ever being brought up when the subject was discussed on the forum, though it may have been.

PS- I was unsure of whether to place this in the General Discussion or Classic threads (since while the subject of commercials has been discussed at least once or twice I don't recall this particular one being brought up) so if another mod wants to move it to classic threads I have no problem with that.

I think I vaguely remember that commercial. Though not as cheesy as the SCV4 one  ;D

"Battle your way through a room!" yeah it's like they just put a guy in a booth and told him to narrate what happens in the video without knowing anything about the game lol.

Here's another one. Though I think it's technically one of those "brought to you by" bumper advertisements you'd see on a nickelodeon gameshow or something similar back then rather than a full fledged commercial.

Oh come on, it's not like none of us haven't done that before, lol.

I can remember sitting on the floor almost right up to my TV playing my NES. Ahhh... the good ole days  :)

My household was notorious for having the couch really close to the tv, but that tv in the ad is pretty large :D

To be fair, about the kid being close to the TV, you had to have the console right by the TV and this was the era before wireless controllers.
Your best bet was if you had the ability to pull the console away from the TV, which most of us couldn't do, and then just the 5-6ft of controller wire.

Any further and you felt like a Suspension Bridge, and were at risk of pulling the console from its shelf (which we did, and it still worked afterwards!).
Risky business.

I remember my friend lent someone his PSX, and they had this setup with the console on a wooden chair. Their dog bolted passed basically through a bunch of cables and the PSX wound up ass up on a hard floor. I'm surprised the laser didn't get fudged right there and then (those first run of consoles had notorious issues for the lazers moving and not reading the disc correctly.)

Whoa! Lucky PSX.

I am notorious for sitting near the TV, so wired or not, it doesn't matter.

I did notice that the Simon's Quest ad used the Famicom version's music.  So technically anyone who saw this ad in 1988 was already exposed to the music that Japan got.
