H1Z1 made battle royale genre popular, and then PUBG entered the picture, though H1Z1 is improving and looks like it could come to PS4 before PUBG does.

while Fortnite battle royale is free to play, it's too cartoony and has horrible random accuracy and awful weapon balancing,
whereas H1Z1 weapons are accurate, strong and overall fair.

and with the pro league, H1Z1 is gonna get even more competitive, H1Z1 is a better balance between realism and fun.

plus it has some advantages over PUBG like supporting squad of 5 (instead of capped at 4), and supports 160+ playables (instead of capped at 100), which equals more friends, more fun, more kills, more action overall.   and even PUBG on Xbox One shows that a battle royale game doesn't need perfect framerate like Fortnite, it order to be great and playable.

overall positive about H1Z1, and read that they are remastering the original map as well!!
even though the PC community moved onto PUBG, PS4 fanbase can really move from Fortnite to H1Z1, especially those that want a higher quality battle royale game, H1Z1 is much more solid and better designed, so money is no object for a great game to play overall.
