George Kamitani's take on the Belmonts would be really interesting, I'd be all for it

I think the exaggerated art style would work very well with Castlevania

this dude already looks like Simon

As cool as this would be, I imagine we'd get a Castlevania: Survive done in the Fox Engine before we get a Vanillaware Castlevania.

And THAT would be a much better Simon then anything we've seen of him as of late (even though he is exaggerated). I personally feel he would even outrank Kojima's Chronicles Simon design by light years.

It could be an interesting opportunity to put barbarian characters and more elegant looking characters in the same game together instead of having one or the other. The exaggerated style would work with the barbarian characters because they are such cheesy power fantasies that they really shouldn't play them straight.

Great art style aside, what exactly would Vanillaware bring to the table here? I don't remember anything they've ever done that even remotely suggests they should make a Castlevania game. I'd be thrilled to see them create the art, cause it's fantastic, but as for the actual game? I mean, for starters I fear the level design would be quite sad...

I don't see them making a super precise pitfalls & platforming Classicvania, but with a little more focus on level design I could easily see them making a fun Castlevania. I've only played Odin Sphere and Muramasa, but both were great examples of tight controls and engaging encounters. The boss fights were fantastic.

As much as I enjoy the art style of Vanillaware, I don't think the artstyle would fit the playstyle of Castlevania unless they made the colours more washed out and grittier, with more gothic and adult looking characters. The Alucard-style pic looks decent, but the Barbarian is overly exaggerated for Cv imho. I think something more along the lines of CV1's cover but more exaggerated could sell me on the art style fitting.

I dunno about that, Tree Of Savior (MMO) Nailed Vanillaware's style whilst still being proportionate as well as have many beautiful colorful environments.
It's possible, just VW would have to be a little more tame, as for the gameplay department, I'd rather someone else do it, I like Vanillaware games, nice to look at, but playing then is a different thing.

I don't know about that. I've played Dragon's Crown and played Muramasa extensively and I can fault the gameplay, particularly not on Muramasa - for me it's the best 2d platformer on the Wii.

I agree with Zangetsu.

Muramasa is a masterpiece.

Dragons crown is more of a nod to Golden Axe. It's not a game that can be compared to CV and honestly that style of game doesn't appeal as much to me.

If Vanillaware gets CV, I have no doubt they would produce one of the best CV games ever made.

I'm playing through Muramasa again because this news got me so excited. And so far all of my memories of it's greatness have been double certified.

If you haven't played Muramasa... Play Muramasa.

I suggest the vita version with the DLC.

Since after SotN CV has had overly exaggerated characters. Not body-stature mind you, but Kojima just can't get off the pretty boy wagon, even with characters who're supposed to be normal humans and not supernatural beings. Issac was the last straw for me. Kojima can do decent looking people who aren't overly exaggerated pretty boys, but those were very far and few. There was just too much of it happening in CV. I personally wouldn't mind vanilla ware's artstyle being done for CV. Muramasa is a good indicator that not everything they do is as exaggerated as Dragon's Crown.

Muramasa also has the Vanillaware artstyle without it being overly exaggerated. Don't get me wrong I love the artstyle, especially the more voluptuous women, but some of the art is a bit overly exaggerated. Whereas Muramasa's art style is more "Japanese" in concept.

DC = Golden Axe x Guardian Heroes, two of my favourite oldschool Sega games. :)

Ah damnit... Well I'm never buying a Vita, but I still enjoy the Wii version.
Still need to finish Shigurui with Kisuke, got up to the final boss a couple of years back.
