Okay, my brain is simmering down from "this is a gross offense against Castlevania" to "fuck it, the series is dead anyway, might as well see some hot Richter/Drac and some nice tits".

My expectations that Konami will ever sell any of their IPs is pretty much dead.

I'm just curious, as I don't want to be culturally insensitive or just assume because it's sexualization and well, Japan:  does making the trailer so blatantly full of T and A along with advertising the game with Erotic Violence make it more appealing?

I'm not offended by it or really upset as a Castlevania fangirl even.  I wouldn't mind at least watching the videos of the games played out since I personally can't play them.  I just don't get why advertising the game in such a way would make it more appealing than say, any other game when it's just a slot/pinball slot machine game.

ugh I'm getting pissed at all the people trying to justify this, I completely understand this from a business standpoint but at the end of the day the large majority of us are FANS that LOVE the series and we do not have to just set back and be ok with this atrocity.

I'm going to just stay away from all things concerning this game whether it be youtube videos or forum topics since there is always that one guy who will defend crap like this.

This doesn't seem out of place.  It's the kind of thing that I'm certain goes on in Dracula's Castle.  It'd almost be a shame if they never explored it like this.  Not my thing, but I can appreciate it as art.  I'll give them this one game without being outraged, but I will get depressed if this happens again.

Oh, and anyone else can feel free to be outraged, you're justified.

Blaming MercurySteam accomplishes nothing and isn't much fun. Much better to blame specific employees.

Like, Eric Alvarez for growing a god-complex and being a Producerzilla, or Dave Cox for outright lying about what the games would contain, or Oscar Arujo who couldn't even score a Castlevania game correctly.

That way, blame is assigned with greater and fairer precision, see?

Yeah, this. To clarify my previous "U MAD BRO" animated gif reply, here's what I said yesterday on my blog:

I think the backlash to the Dracula Pachinko game is pretty overblown. It’s not like the Castlevania franchise was actually going anywhere important before this was announced. There’s no evidence that there was an actual game in development after Lords of Shadow and Konami shifted gears at the last minute. It also doesn’t help that there’s a LOT of people complaining about how Konami has completely sold the series out by making a Castlevania-themed pachinko game when they don’t seem to realize this has been an entire sub-genre in Japan since 2009. It’s where all the Japanese-style art direction has gone and it’s kept Michiru Yamane employed for the past six years while David Cox was running the main series.

I do legitimately feel bad for the Silent Hill fanbase, though. This is basically Konami going “Hey guys, we cancelled your game and took away your demo licenses so we could devote our resources to THIS schlock-driven piece of crap.” Yeesh.

tl;dr: It's indicative of a larger problem in general at Konami but as far as just Castlevania is concerned, I welcome our new boob monster overlords.
