What do you do to earn back the respect of gamers?

My list:

  • Shuttering the Pachinko business entirely, shareholders be damned
  • A full 3D semi-sandbox remake of the Original Castlevania
  • A Fox Engine remake of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (with hopefully Hideo Kojima temporarily returning as a freelance lore consultant), with a goal for a wholly new title within 4 years.
  • An HD Remaster of Dracula X Chronicles and Silent Hill 2 for Android and iOS
  • Metal Gear Survive goes forward as planned (it would be a shame to deliver the bad news of a cancellation to hardworking employees)
  • Launch 3 new IPs meant to be Konami's new "Big Three" franchises for the next generation ("Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Metal Gear should not be the ones to keep bearing that burden. Not alone, at least!")
  • BIG GODDAMN PUBLIC APOLOGY TO ALL KONAMI FANS
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

^AGREED!

But let's add 2 more at least;

8. A new, TRUE Contra.  Or even HD remakes of the original trilogy.
9. For God's sake, pick up Mystical Ninja as well for the same treatment.  To this day Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is still in my top 10 favorite games, and more than likely my most replayed N64 game. Ever.
But enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!!!!!!!!

You people! People are still a concern, and the wants of fans as well as people who aren't already fans need to be taken into consideration!

How about we just boot things off with an NES remaster series, including:
CastleVania
CastleVania 3
Contra
Super Contra
Gradius
Kid Dracula
R Type
Crisis Force

These wouldn't be full on remakes. Just improved graphics, modified gameplay, and a new soundtrack. All of these would be on one disk, for $45.
UPON THE COMPLETION OF ITS STATEMENT, THE BLOOD MONKEY LEAPS TOWARDS YOU, BARING TEETH. IT IS TOO LATE FOR YOU.

Metal gear:  the Movie
Castlevania: the Anime
Silent Hill: the TV Series
Maybe a more Saturday Morning style cartoon as well with Goemon or a Contra movie as well.

Win a chance to be in a Konami Game!  (At least three winners.  One from Japan.  One Europe.  One America.)  I know Capcom used to have design a Megaman boss contests.  maybe we could do that too.  Design a Metal gear mercenary?  Design a Castlevania boss?  Not quite sure on that one yet.

In addition to the other High definition remakes other people have mentioned, add Konami Wai Wai World to the list.  In fact, let's do a Konami World Smash Bros game.

Public apologies and a big party thrown for IGA and Kojima.  At some point, I'd have to have models in Snake and Alucard costumes welcome back their creators and tell them how much they missed them... maybe give them a hug?  And that part will be a surprise.  Don't tell the creators it's going to happen until it does.

Konami would be reorganised from the ground-up. The current management board would be excused and replaced by those whom are passionate about games and how the fans feel about said games. Peoples' rights in terms of the workplace and how they're treated would become a top priority. Equal pay, stress-free environment, reasonable hours, and so-on. The whole slot thingy would still exist since it is where the company is drawing most of its revenue. But I would NOT be using game franchises for said slots. The slots would have their own designs, and if those designs were popular enough then the company would consider making an actual game out of them. All of Konami's beloved franchises would be brought back into full-swing. And done the way the fans want them. The odd risk or two would still be taken but not to the extent we've seen in the past decade. There would also be no premature release date for games that have not even left the drawing board yet. Instead the games themselves would be near-completion before any decision is made to set a date of release. Shipping out the castlevania NES trilogy with updated graphics, sounds, music, etc. Like Super Mario All-Stars would be a step in the right direction in order to help win back the fans whom the company had alienated.

I'm only choosing to comment on Castlevania because it was always my favourite Konami franchise.

Let me say that first off I believe three Castlevania games are worthy of a remake:
CV1
Simon's Quest
Sotn

Simon's Quest in my mind is most deserving of a remake, though a CV1 remake would be more important to get fans and newcomers alike back into the series.

Regarding the remake of CV1, add branching paths and a third form Dracula/ hard mode.
Why not make a Castlevania "anniversary" collection which includes all of the 8 and 16 bit titles. (I would say every game but this is probably unrealistic). Later down the track an Igavania anniversary collection could be released for the Metroidvania fans.

Also put to use all these Hudson's IP that they control now, make some new Bomberman game akin to Super Bomberman, with co-op in story mode. Do a new game like Wai Wai World, to introduce their old and new franchises and characters to current generations.

Invite IGA to make a new CV game.

Easy.

Twinbee Mobile game.
Wai Wai World in the style of modern Nintendo Platformers (4-player couch co-op) or Wai Wai Smash bros.
Expansion of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Mre Igavania games, Let Mana compose music.
Getsu Fuuma Den Remake with Okami style graphics with non-linear stages and RE style mazes and Wagakki band music.
Bloody Roar needs a comeback.
Goemon comeback.
Bring Kojima in for a Cyberpunk 2077-esque remake of Snatcher
Publish games on Steam.

That sounds great! :D  I'd include Versailles along with Mana.

I'm agreeing wholeheartedly about the reorganization of Konami, and the suggestions made, I'd also include making a properly done live action movie Castlevania movie that fully ties into the games, made by people fully passionate about the series.  Oh, and release really sumptuous artbooks and art prints of artwork from the series.
