After gaining some inspiration from a Ninja Gaiden papercraft model (as well as countless others) I decided to create my own in my spare time:

The lighting conditions were kinda rough (as is picture quality). Maybe in the future I'll make some more models, depending on feedback!

How do you make one?

I assume it's like a shoebox, unfolded for a base? And like you just print and paste things from the computer onto similar-cut pieces of poster board ... am I wrong?

I'd love to make one for Ys 3 or Super Metroid :D

Thanks for the praise everybody :D

I don't use a shoebox (although that would be a good idea!). I typically use "heavyweight paper matte" by Epson, you can find it at Staples or any computer store for like $20 for a full pack. The pieces aren't as flimsy and you can stand characters up easily. It's just a matter of measuring the dimensions on paper, make sure it's scaled to your liking, and taping the actual stage together (although there are more reliable methods than using standard tape, it's just quicker for me to use). Also a hobby knife is required (or a standard razor) to make the characters more precise. I'll also try and make a tutorial soon!

Here's a quick one I did today. Can you guess what game it is??

I'm taking the pics using my cell, & the quality is horrible! I'll try and take better pics in the future using a normal camera cuz these low-quality pics really don't do the models justice ._.

Soooo yeah, I definitely want to make something like that SotN one. That's really pretty. The CV1 one is nice too, but the SotN one is great because of the layers.

Beautiful pieces--I almost believed the SOTN one was an actual screenshot.  I like to call this type of thing 2.5D art--I used to make that kind of stuff, albeit hand-drawn, not with sprites, years ago, before I started doing actual sculptures.

I'd love to see a clock tower one.  I'm sure that be a hefty challenge.

Do the SotN stairway, complete with 3D click tower. THAT would be cool.
