I finally finished Gurren Lagann. I'd watched the first half sometime last September and hadn't touched it since, but a couple days ago I finished eleven episodes in one day. Super damn good and addicting. Hiroyuki Imaishi has become one of my favorite anime directors; I like how his shows are constantly moving, as opposed to long spans of characters just talking, and the animation is always far out there. I remember watching Dead Leaves a long time ago and being amazed by how expressive the drawings are; I'd say to some extent, there's probably an influence from American cartoons like old Looney Tunes and Ren & Stimpy, something the director plays up even more in Panty & Stocking with its strong similarity in drawing style to shows like Powerpuff Girls. No shortage of interesting story concepts either, even if story isn't exactly the primary focus in most of his shows, although Gurren Lagann is easily the most in-depth and character-driven.

Next I'll watch the GL movies. I don't dig series recap movies where the majority of the footage is taken from the series but whatever. Looking back, I guess I gotta hand it to the Escaflowne movie for at least supplying 100% new animation, even if it's still a condensed series recap.

Gurren Lagann is on my to watch list, I have a page open ready to watch it when I finish Kill la Kill. Also have Ruronin Kenshi also ready to go when needed.

Awesome, I LOVED Escaflowne (the TV series, at least, I didn't like the movie as much). You're in for a treat :D

Oh, I know I am. I've loved it for a long time. I don't "love" the movie, but I enjoy the darker take on the story and appreciate the artistic merits it has on every rewatch.

The only anime I have taken up watching AT ALL in the last 8 years has been Kill La Kill, and I regret nothing. Other than that, everything I watch anime-wise is either stuff I enjoyed as a kid (Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon, DBZ, Robotech, Gundam Wing) or stuff I enjoyed in High School (Gundams-Other-Than-Wing, Azumanga Daioh! The Animation, Escaflowne, Read or Die, Revolutionary Girl Utena, etc.).

It's a shame Konami doesn't really want all of this money of ours.

How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Kill la Kill is done, made it through all 25 episodes, still didn't care for it's art, but loved everything else. Really felt nice hearing Nonon, her voice was done by the same lady who voices Angel in KoF (though she is a tad nasally in sound).

And lo and behold, a new arc of Cardcaptor Sakura has recently started, but so far it's in manga form. Here's hoping it too gets made into an anime. The story does pick up where the last left off, so it's not a reboot of any kind. The arc is known as the Clear Card arc.

Just wondering if anyone here is a fan of K-Project? I've been watching the second season, K: Return of Kings, lately. The first season is my favorite anime of all time, and the movie (K: Missing Kings) was really good. But man, Return of Kings is pretty bad. It's starting to pick up, finally, but at the eighth episode, which is really bad in a 13-episode season.

Berserk 2016, but it sucks badly. I have some time off and I think I'm going to do Steins gate next.

Picked Clannad (Both first part and After story) and Kanon (Both Toei and Kyoto versions) on Youtube

Probably I'll pick visual novel game incarnations of Kanon if I have enough time/mood... I like the story for some personal reasons but I may haven't got a patient of God in order to go through the ultimate boredom of text flows...

It's a shame that One Kagayaku Kisetsu e /One To the Radiant Season can't even get a proper Anime incarnation even though there once had VERY much possibility to have one. Since the copyright of the game was f**ed up we can only get some not-so-good OVA stuff of it. What a shame.

The real problem is volume length; The volume of events in original game simply can't fit in OVA with few limited episodes, if choose Nagamori Mizuka route as the story base...It should be at least one f**ing  season in order to really shines in the media mix war... And then they told us at least three completely different stories based on the main theme in all currently available media sources, which is so unusual to the Game/Anime world.

What a shame. The event happened in between the years 1998-1999 and I think there would be some further explanations why they gave us a time setting like this, but a cruel 2-ton bag of "nope" dropped right on my head.
Poor Nagamori Mizuka   :'(    She and her legend should be more well-known than we can see now but the cruel fact says it can't be    :'(  Maybe she's too perfect then fate decided to make her legend not that well-known.........

And now I'm in total desperation about newcomers of anime stuff

I am currently watching (more of waiting for a new episode per week, until the end of summer):
>Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no sara (highly recommended for all the food porn and random gratuitous images, this is the second season though)
>B Project Kodou Ambitious (for otome, you have been warned)
>Show By Rock Shorts (funny short episodes, not a legit 2nd season, but watch the first season to understand everything)

Through 62 episodes of Ruronin Kenshin, and after a long Kyoto arc, I find out the remaining 32 episodes are filler, blah. :(

So I picked steam back up on Urusei Yatsura, 42 episodes in, when I should already being over the 100 episode mark, I've been slacking.

Lum!

Waiting for Rewrite 2nd season
For 1st season... There're something that I just can't describe it properly in English; And the actual content and length should be at least twice as what we got now in the 1st season; or possibly they dropped some content from original VN on purpose (I'm not a very serious fan of VN genre so it's not a big lost for me) and the stuff should be "Rewritten" for the 2nd season

Just when I thought that SB69 couldn't get any weirder.... then episode 2 of SB69# happened.  I loved the BVL song used in the opening scene of episode 1.  It's so far looking interesting for sure.

I'm currently on a rewatch of Cardcaptor Sakura, and skipping through Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis.  It seems ok, but not enough so far to properly watch it.

The series of Little Witch Academia has just been announced for next year, the trailer looks great.  It's not clear if it's rebooting from scratch, but it does show Akko's arrival at the school.  I can't wait.
