I doubt this was filmed in 1980.

In 2000-2005 cars running on oil will be gone, all replaced with electric cars? (about 1:50 in)

No offense, but this guy shot his credibility with that. xD

I think the oil companies had something to do with this prediction not coming true. What a prediction boils down to is a future path that is a choice to be made. It is not a guarantee as many people would like to believe it is. For instance; If someone predicts an accident that will happen and nobody does anything about it and it happens, then it came true. However if some decided to prevent the accident and succeeds, then the prediction is not true. But because the person acted thus preventing the fate of the accident then it's obvious that he used the prediction to his or her advantage to avoid a bad situation. I feel that predictions are a choice to be made down the road rather then a fixed future event. It's kinda like a spiritual-based early warning system that few people have. Those who heed the warnings rather then ignore them like so many are the ones who make a difference in the world. If this guy went on air about electric cars dominating the roadways in 2000 to 2005 then it's very likely that the big oil barons took action to prevent his prophecy from becoming a reality. Just so they can continue to make a buck. But when you think about it, if this prophecy did come true then just think of all the oil disasters (like the BP spill in the gulf of Mexico) would never have happened. I blame the oil companies. They should be staked  >:(

Geeky sci-fi dudes being more in tune with the evolution of SCIENCE than average people and being able to roughly predict future technology trends.

This shit has been happening since H.G. Wells, people.

... Wait, fuck Wells.  Mary Shelley basically predicted the development of defibrillators.

Don't forget Jules Gabriel Verne. A lot of stuff came from him too.

And don't forget our buddy Leonardo Da Vinci, who designed and built a robot knight circa 1495, and showed him off at a celebration hosted by some duke.

They rediscovered those books of his in the 50's, and built the robot according to specifications, and surprise surprise, it works.

Also, he wasn't entirely off with the cars. There ARE Electric cars. And they ARE becoming more commonplace. Only thing is the oil companies are just too big to bu pushed away so quickly or so easily. The Oil companies are the reason that Electric cars are not more mainstream.

US being bombed wasnt off either, the WTC had a bomb set off in it's parking lot in '93.

the video is to clear to be 80's material, not enough grain, its too clean. even tv today still has some grain in it, when something was filmed before the advent of HDTV. and this sums my response up:

Jennifer Parker: Dr. Brown, I brought this note back from the future and now it's erased.
Doc: Of course it's erased.
Jennifer Parker: But what does that mean?
Doc: It means your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has. Your future is whatever you make it. So make it a good one, both of you.
Marty McFly: [Marty wraps his arm around Jennifer] We will, Doc.
