also recently purchased part one of the 'Knightfall' comic series, where Bane makes his first appearance (and what DKR is partially based on)

have yet to start reading it, though
Has anyone read The Cult? That was another favorite of mine. I was kind of surprised with how dark it was for a Batman comic. And Jason Todd actually wasn't annoying in that one.
Wasn't much a fan of that myself. Maybe I'm insane, but it felt like a poor man's Frank Miller to me—the Batmobile even underwent a ridiculous reconstruction in it.
Look for Batman Vs Dracula : Red Rain. Have got all three: Red Rain, Bloodstorm, and Crimson Mist.
Let's discuss the subject of "what would be great about a Batman who kills"?
The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONebtUty3AI#ws)
Not a lot really. He'd be basically a Punisher clone dressed up like a bat.
Think about it ... while the wealth isn't exactly there for Punisher/Frank Castle, they both have honed their bodies to near-perfection and not having to rely on any given superpowers (though Frank still needs to rely heavily on armor due to the amount of ammo being blasted at him), both have had their families wiped out by criminals, both rely on the fear of criminals for their work.... except Bats has more honor than Frank due to not murdering the scumbags/his opponents. And also, if Bats killed his way through Gotham's crime network, there wouldn't be much in the way of villains left - except himself.
Just wondering if anyone remembers Amalgam Comics - this would be a universe crossover between Marvel and DC back in the 90's...That's.... Actually pretty frightening.
Anyway, this is only one of the characters who came out of it - when two universes collided, out of the chaos was formed - Dark Claw. The patented badassery of Wolverine meets the calculation of Batman.

The Dark Knight Rises - Official Trailer #3 [HD] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8evyE9TuYk#ws)I came.
I loved B:TAS, it was on a whole other level compared to the cartoons of that time and even now. What did you think of "The Brave and the Bold"? I haven't had tv in years but the episodes of that show I was able to catch were delightful and deliciously different from the more common darker Batmen we've gotten the last few decades. I haven't watched much of "The Batman" though I have the first 2 seasons and the movie you mentioned, just need some time to get used to the artstyle I guess. Batman:TAS was just one of those once-in-a-lifetime things. I was surprised to hear Bruce Timm and Eric Rodomski say they didn't like the later episodes as much as the first one in their commentary on it. I guess that shows how much of this art is collaboration beyond the original concept/creators.
The Batman had some very very big shoes to fill, and while it certainly wasn't the second coming of B:TAS, it was fun in its own right, and the Batman Vs. Dracula movie was awesome, I highly recommend it. It's much darker in tone compared to the rest of the series.
