+<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<+I've added theplottwist's placement of Kid Dracula to this, but it doesn't fit into my sig since there are too many characters.
There are a few connections/ assumptions/ explanations that aren't or may not be clear when reading this:
-The notion of the Vampire Killer or equivalent being the main weapon used for killing Dracula is present in all 3 timelines (running parallel) being:
LOI>DOS
Legends>64/VK
SuperCVIV>COTM
However, the backstory which occurs during LOI
only happens in the Iga timeline of LOI>DOS. This means that Cornell (LOD) and Alucard (SOTN) are the only ones able to keep Dracula from incarnating/resurrecting either without using the whip or Dracula's own power (Shanoa, Hector-possibly)
-When Richter enters Castlevania in SOTN's playthrough and defeats Shaft, this is the ending that would have happened if Richter never became completely under Shaft's control. Iga's timeline states that after the battle with Dracula in 1794 "
Shaft's curse seeped into Richter's heart" because that battle "
left him defenseless". It also states that in 1797 "
Shaft would come to exist as a spirit only manifested in a crystal ball... However, in 5 years since the last battle, Shaft manages to regain power through Richter's curse.. After 4 years Shaft manages to gain full control over Richter".
This playthrough/ending doesn't change the fact that Shaft's curse was placed upon Richter, but it does potentially alter the timing of when Richter entered the Castle. For some reason Alucard had not awoken yet, that reason is most likely that Richter was not yet completely under Shaft's control, hadn't yet become the first Castle's Lord, and manages to defeat Shaft instead.
-VK=Vampire's Kiss=Dracula XX
-If SOTN's Richter ending happens and Alucard never awakens, then VK potentially happens afterwards.
-Legends still shares a connection to CV3 in history although I don't believe these are connected any longer
-LOD>64 lead into VK but only if the bad ending happens whereby Malus grows into an adult. (VK's Dracula shares the same appearance as Malus with the red eyes and hair colour imo)
-ROB's bad ending is Richter not making it in time to save Annette, thereby ending the Belmont bloodline leading into Reinhardt's story.
-SOTN's bad ending has the same outcome as ROB's bad ending. (no more direct Belmont bloodline)
-COTM could potentially happen after VK, but only after SOTN's Richter Ending i.e. it can not be preceded by LOD>64 as they occur in the 1850's and COTM happens in the 1830's.
-VK has no set year and is the variable element which connects much of this web. The prologue in the game only states that it occurs "Hundreds of years after Simon Belmont defeated Dracula." Hundreds could mean two-hundred to several hundred. There is always a Simon v Dracula battle which precedes its placement in this timeline.
-Castlevania Chronicles, Haunted Castle and Super Castlevania IV are all parallel events where Simon defeats Dracula.
-COTM can occur prior to LOD>64 but if VK follows SCVIV must have occured prior to COTM as Simon has to have defeated Dracula for VK to occur.
-HC>OOS' connections are made due to the Simon Statue during the Medusa boss fight. This could only be a statue made in honour of Simon and not the Simon Belmont from HC failing and being turned to stone by Medusa or else the direct Belmont Bloodline would have ended, meaning Desmond would not have been the heir to the Belmont's Whip.
-The break line between DOS>>>/>>>KD is because Galamoth goes back in time to 1797 (10,000 years prior to KD) to face Dracula but is defeated instead by Alucard. KD would have to happen in the first instance of this timeline occurring, but since he is defeated in the past he would no longer manifest again. In essence this means KD is a self-contained story which is essentially a time loop. Evidence of this was that Galamoth's soul was absorbed by Soma and existed within the confines of Castlevania between the events of SOTN>AOS. (Thank you plottwist).
- There are several other potential connections which have been illustrated and some which I probably haven't.
This is it. I just wanted to finally make it a topic. Comments are welcome.
