I thought it was all fantastic, just wanted to ask how much did IGA have to do with this? did he work on the story or was he just a supervisor?

He was a consultant in the first season. He had nothing to do with season 2.

As I feel that the story strays a bit from what his plot, and I found that odd that's why I had to know.  but with him not being apart of does seem really odd  I mean I feel that it in no way suffered for it, however its  shame he's still no longer working on CV.

It started good. I loved the LoI references and the little details to the games. I loved Bloody Tears. The good stuff was really good. I didn't like how it ended. I know Alucard is popular but the other two were just there at the end, and it bugged me. Then it just kept going. Are they doing CoD now? Was that Death as Zed at the start?

As much as I loved this season I have to say It stuck out like a sore thumb that they seem to have confused the mechanics of what a Devil Forgemaster is within the canon, pretty much Hector and Issac in this series are necromancers from everything I saw.

Yeah, that was odd.  They were golem animators.  I suppose one could argue that they were basically making flesh golems, but I think they just didn't do enough research on the game; we even get to see the process of devil forging in the video game, so they don't really have any excuse.

You know, creative liberties are a thing. There is a reason why they'll always say "Based on *Insert Franchise Here*". That is why they'll have original characters shoehorned with some new changes to pre existing characters like Isaac and some canon like changes. While yes, this is basically Dracula's Curse, one can say it's just one big inspiration to create it's own stand alone story/timeline. Not to mention it isn't really easy to adapt a video game into a movie or series because it doesn't translate well in screenplay.

Sorry but I'm not going to buy into the whole "creative liberties" excuse when we have so many obvious references to the previous canon within this series, there is legit no good reason to call them Devil Forgemasters and not expect us as fans to want them to actually BE Devil Forgemasters, as I said earlier they are pretty much necromancers here and should have been called such honestly even if it would have been weird to have Hector and Issac called that but pretty much they ARE Necromancers here and all but name.

Observation about the final fight of the season:

The first time they fought, Dracula used his claws to rip Alucard open diagonally across his chest.  However, you’ll notice that during the fight in episode 7, Dracula does not use his claws against Alucard at all (correct me if I'm wrong on this but I don't think I am).  He slices Sypha with them without hesitation, but Alucard?

I suspect that either Dracula’s maiming of his son the year before may have traumatized him, or he had already subconsciously come to the realization that he didn’t want to kill Alucard, or both.  Perhaps he was hoping that Alucard would flee again, and when he didn’t, he kept hitting him.

PROS

    All the fanservice from the games. Slogra & Gaibon, Leon Belmont, The Morning Star, Malphas/Karasuman, Hector & Isaac
    BLOODY. FUCKING. TEARS. I fucking squeed.
    Gorgeous environments. Say what you will about the animation as a whole, but the scenery was beautiful.
    Great fight scenes. It's where the show really shines.

 

 

CONS

    Largely, Warren Ellis being Warren Ellis and deciding his convoluted story telling trumped anything else, to the detriment of the season. Deciding to shoehorn his characters and all this backstory and filler ended up bloating the season into 8 episodes that could have very nicely been 5 or 6 easily. Going on and on about vampire infighting and power struggles, needlessly drawn-out research over THREE FUCKING EPISODES, etc. just weighted things down. Godbrand was an unneeded character. There was too much exposition, etc.

    Dracula being largely in the background. I have zero problem with them making him this tragic monster, but he was not the intimidating figure he should have been. He ought to have beat the shit out of the squabbling vampire generals, but he seemed largely bored with everything and wasn't effective until the episode 7 battle.

    Speaking of which - that big climatic battle with Drac ended up feeling....hollow. It shouldn't have all been crammed into one episode, and the finale felt like "Wait, is that it??" Again, Ellis being Ellis putting his narrative above the actual compelling action we all want. The whole fight and Drac's defeat felt very rushed and unsatisfying.

    No other CV music. I was thrilled as fuck they had Bloody Tears in there, but that was it. They had plenty of point where other music from the series could have really been played perfectly to accsentuate the scene at play (a low, somber "Lost Painting" during the part where Dracula laments he's killing their son to Lisa's memory; "Evergreen" or "Flashback" during the penultimate cliff scene w/ Trevor and Sypha) Missed opportunity yet again.

    Trevor being seriously downplayed this season, overshadowed by Sypha and Alucard.

In season 3 It seems Hector will betray Carmilla,  meet Rosaly and join forces with Trevor and Sypha. Alucard will also help because he needs a closure. Also I'm still waiting for Grant to appear in next season.  Then hopefully the show will move to Simon's story or Rondo.

These are pretty much my thoughts. I didn't think they spent enough time in the Castle itself. I thought it was gonna end with them entering the castle and season 3 would be just in the castle.
