Finally they have shown more about this game:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-25-this-is-what-nosgoth-the-f2p-multiplayer-legacy-of-kain-game-looks-like

Square Enix has unveiled Nosgoth, the free-to-play competitive multiplayer game set in the Legacy of Kain universe.

The trailer, below, shows off the third-person, team-based human versus vampire gameplay. Nosgoth is developed by Psyonix, and will be released on PC via Steam.

Humans use ranged weaponry and specialised equipment. Vampires use close combat melee attacks and supernatural abilities.

Each side has multiple classes and many items to unlock, including weapons, perks and abilities.

"At Psyonix, we're passionate about team-based multiplayer games," reads a statement on the Nosgoth blog. "When Square Enix approached us to help create Nosgoth, we were excited to use our experience working on titles like Bulletstorm, Gears of War, Mass Effect 3, and Unreal Tournament 2004 to deliver something unique in the multiplayer genre.

"We made the decision to go to free-to-play to break down barriers and let as many players into the game as possible. One of the key goals has been to create a fair experience that doesn't penalise players who don't spend money in the game, as such Nosgoth doesn't include items, weapons or abilities that are inherently better (aka supremacy goods)."

You can sign up for the closed beta over at the official Nosgoth website. (http://nosgoth.com/)

I would have preferred a reboot of the original game. MMO just doesn't do it for me.

I'm not particularly fond of MMOs either. I know my brother would be very disappointing to hear about this one considering he has all the previous games in the series. MMOs more often then naught spell the end for many types of games. WoW is one example. They haven't made a single-player game of that series for a long time. I'm worried the same thing is going to happen to TES series as well. MMOs should be made with a totally fresh idea in mind and not take an existing game series and run with that instead.

Game looks epic, but sure, with no single-player / storyline mode it's quite a dealbreaker.

Also, where are the Hylden? Yeah I know they've been expelled to an alternate dimension, yadda yadda. Still, the legacy of Kain universe is based around three species, not just two.

I registered for the closed beta. I am really hoping this game opens up a Legacy of Kain HD Compilation for current consoles at least. I've been asking for that for a while now...

Like I said before: I've already lost much of my faith in the MMO genre. Unless it's done flawlessly, this style of play can easily kill a game's depth, its direction, its appeal... I've seen it done far too often not to be worried. Legacy of Kain isn't the type of franchise you'd imagine being adapted to this kind of a format. It was never made to adopt the aimless, free-for-all deathmatch mold it seems to be moving towards.
And the f2p doesn't help, either -- that's a business model, not a gameplay choice. The words "free to play" have little to do with "accessibility"; they have to do with money. Telling us that there are "no supremacy goods" doesn't help -- because why else would you pay money in-game? There will always be a mechanism in place to encourage players to spend money. It only depends on how well it's hidden.

How much longer this masquerade will go on, I do not know. But if this game doesn't have a single-player/story mode, I don't even think I'll take a look at it.

What X said is also true: MMO's often come during a series' dying hours...
