Ooh. I like that one. (:

EDIT: I can't believe some dude on Serio's board totally started yelling at me about me posting my old and pretty much cancelled sprite sheets here on the dungeon. Dude didn't even bother giving himself a screen-name. Do the "Anonymous Trolls" hate me or something? That's the second time this has happened for posting my work somewhere.

On another note, he was reasonable in his argument when I made a crack at the name Ricardo.

Over here, we call the red guy from Castlevania Bloodletting "Hanz".  Is that the character you refer to as "Ricardo"?  Or am I completely wrong and this is about something else?

I've seen him referred to as Ricardo. But I am one of the people that refers to him as Hanz. I was more referring to the correct translation of Eric Lecarde's name as Eric Ricardo. I told Serio to use the name Lecarde instead cuz Eric Ricardo sounds like the name of a "gay porn star" (and in truth, it is, someone I know watches that stuff and feels the need to talk to me about it). Then he assumed I was referring to the name "Ricardo" itself, when I actually like the name, just not grouped with "Eric".

The blue coat prototye-Trevor sprite I believe is what he's talking about. In the MUGEN fangame Dracula X something (forget the title) I believe they named him Ricardo, and gave him a musket style weapon.

That was actually a pretty good fan game. Has it progressed at all? Where can it be found/does it have an official website?

Oh, you're thinking of Roberto. That's a different guy. And he's both a prototype Trevor and a prototype Richter.

This dudelaw, right? (NOTE: I'm not the one who posted them. I found them on that board and saved them)

That Simon sprite is nice, but I second a different walking animation. Also, I think he would look a bit better if you trimmed his calves up some. You know, gave them a more defined shape and made them look less cylinder-like. Something about his legs in the action stance looks like it could be made a bit better. It may not be that, exactly, but something.

After looking it up; The game's name is "Castlevania X", and the name used in the game for that character is "Lucius" apparently.

I'm annoyed that the game doesn't allow you to change the key config though. Even if you hack the options menu back in, the configuration doesn't change your controls. Super lame.

    http://randomselect.smeenet.org/falchion22/Stage2.zip
    http://randomselect.smeenet.org/falchion22/Stage3.zip

The download for it is in 4 parts. You need all 4. Unzip Castlevania X.zip and then inside that unzip and put the Stage1, Stage2, and Stage3 folders in the "char" folder.

Yeah, me too. That's what drew me to it most of all. I should probably make a separate thread for this...

Who's idea was it to have Hector saying "Your sprites suck"?

Let me open 'em up in my program and I'll critique 'em in a while.

Mine. ^.^ The Hector sprite there is... not so well made (the guy got much better and I like his sprites lots now), and I laughed at the irony of the situation.

Not that I'm bragging and saying my sprites are better. At least he could scratch sprites. I can't. >.>

Who was it?  The sprite seems familiar.
Speaking of Hector, I had the beginnings of a walking animation for him:

He's missing hands (completely) because the hands were supposed to be attached to various weaponry he was to carry around.... but that never happened, so here's the WIP without hands (just 'nubs' at the end where the hands kinda would go). xD

EDIT (with critique):

Well, right off the bad I notice your Trevor uses more than the usual number of colors, and yet looks like he's not using enough colors.  This is probably because of the low contrast the colors are using.  You've got very nice leathery browns, grays, and greens, which would be great for a 3D model, but for a sprite, it makes it look very plain since usually a hero/main character sprite is supposed to stand out.

I would probably start using more high contrast colors like green instead of gray, and a slightly brighter brown, to bring him up.  The other thing is, I'm not fond of the tuft of hair on his head.  I realize it makes him look just like the artwork for CoD Trevor, but it just looks like an Afro to me in the regular 'stance' animation (his hair looks better in the attacking animations).

Lastly, there's a lot of three-color line-shading going on in some of the sprites.  Line-shading is where you're just using three colors progressively getting darker, in a line, in order to create depth, but the problem is that it makes things look very amateur-ish.  Specific examples are the the boot in his very first jumping sprite (sixth from the left, first row).  If you notice, the boot is just three colors progressively getting darker at the bottom.  Line-shading, like Pillow-shading (a similar problem but appears more in bulbous areas) is particularly apparent, here.  It's not nearly as apparent in his regular stance, though.  That's a pretty nice-looking stance.  I might give him more of a crotch bulge though, 'cuz he's got a female crotch right now. xD  Again, this is just personal preference.
