We're not likely to get Dawnguard at all. Period.

Bethesda have encountered a serious problem with the development of Dawnguard for PS3, which may result in Playstation 3 never getting the Dawnguard DLC.

Quote
"We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want."

In a forum post, an administrator said that the dev team was "not positive" the problem could be solved. This, ominously backed up by the statement: "Dawnguard is not the only thing we have been working on, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated." Perhaps, after the PS3's multitude of bugs in vanilla Skyrim, this could be it for the system's relationship with TESV.

So, it seems that Bethesda have got themselves a mighty big problem with Dawnguard on Playstation 3, so we're going to have to wait a lot longer. Hopefully this will be made good by Hearthfire coming to PS3 in good time -- assuming of course that it gets here at all.

EDIT: DAMMIT I DON'T WANNA SPEND OVER A THOUSAND BUCKS ON A GAMING PC....!!!!!
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

It sucks!!!!  It really really sucks!!!!  Why bother even releasing the vanilla Skyrim for PS3 when there are so many problems with it already.  Then again, I have only heard of such bugs.  I have the PS3 version of Skyrim and I have only encountered a few small bugs that I was able it correct.  Let's face it, this series is meant to be played on the PC and from what I understand, the Xbox 360 system works very similar to, if not the same as, a PC.  The PS3 is completely different from what I know.  Bethesda doesn't seem to understand enough of how each system works to make bug-free games for each.

That being said, what pisses me off is that instead of putting all there manpower of the Elder Scrolls team to try and fix the bugs of the PS3 version of Dawnguard as well as any existing bugs for the Xbox 360 and PC versions, they started working on a second DLC which I believe is available for Xbox 360 users.  They should have fixed all the bugs they could and made sure that the first DLC was available to everyone before even starting on the second.  You finish the project you are working on before you move on to a new one.  That is how you get quality products.  But no.  Everything is about making money rather than producing a quality product for the consumers.  In other words, is quantity over quality when it should be the other way around (or, at least a close to equal balance between the two).

Basically I should copy my post from the other topic on this matter.

Sony is way more unforgiving than Microsoft in terms of delivering updates. You need to release as little as possible, otherwise the cost'll eat you up. So, Bethesda must work on the products longer in order for them to work there at all.

But nothing stops you from registering at Beth forums and lobbying there. Let'em see that you want this done.

It worked in case of 2K Games and BioShock 2 PC DLCs, didn't it?

The idea of getting Elder Scrolls for anything but PC is ridiculous. You could see this coming a mile away.

EDIT: DAMMIT I DON'T WANNA SPEND OVER A THOUSAND BUCKS ON A GAMING PC....!!!!!

It's not that expensive if you build one yourself, and even if you get someone to build one for you and it is, you more than make up for it over the years with steam and gog.com sales. PC game prices usually drop faster than on consoles even without the insane 50% - 75% sales steam commonly has. Take in with this that PC gaming gives you access to free servers, free fan made mods/expansions/enhancements, more indie games, more F2P options (if you're into that), and a back catalog of thousands of games to choose from if you don't mind tinkering with compatibility settings or just use GoG.
In ye olden days consoles were less advanced but more user friendly, now they're just proprietary PCs complete with bad DRM, codes, updates, on-disc "DLC", patches and hidden fees. It used to be when you bought a game on disc for a console you knew you were getting a complete game, but no longer, so what's the point?

I wouldn't build a new gaming rig right now, don't get my wrong. Wait and see what the specs are for the new consoles and then build one at those specs or higher, and you'll be set for the entire generation since most A-list games are console-centric and indie games are typically less demanding.

Truth. I put together a great gaming PC for a friend for just under 750$. Go Newegg! It was more than capable of running anything of it's era.

For those interested in building gaming PCs on a budget I present to you: Tom's Hardware guide!

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-pc-overclocking-pc-building,3273.html

I think anyone who doesn't look into Tom's Hardware guides (even for a base) is kind of loco, or insanely rich and just orders the most expensive everything.

Back on topic: that kind of sucks for the PS3 Skyrim players, I want to laugh at them for not being down with the PC master race, but in all honesty it sucks either way. I hope Bethesda can get their stuff together and get this figured out.

This may be shocking for those not in the industry but Content Development != Test/Debug Team. I wouldn't be surprised if the content developers for the DLC don't know any programming what so ever. I'm betting they have a tool suite, not too unlike the one provided by NWN (remember that?) to generate the extra quests, artists generating new art assets (again, nothing they know could help fix any bugs) and voice actors reading out and recording new lines.

I guarantee their entire debug/test team is already looking into it and trying, and look! Sony is giving Bethesda a helping hand (http://www.slashgear.com/dawnguard-ps3-development-woes-have-sony-giving-bethesda-a-helping-hand-08246558/) so chill and relax. Bethesda hasn't abandoned their PS3 fans and extra DLC content cannot interfere with fixing issues, I mean, it's completely different teams with completely different skill sets. It's kind of like getting mad at the baker that your steak isn't ready yet while the grill master, butcher and company that made the grill attempt to find out why the cow isn't cooking correctly.

I'll take back most of what I said.  I did a little research since my last post and I'm better informed now.  The fact that Bethesda went to Sony for help shows that Bethesda hasn't given up yet.  So, there is still hope.  All we can do is wait for the next announcement with will likely come out as soon as the is a development regardless of whether it is positive or negative.
