Nosferatu remake announced!

Finally! I have been checking periodically for years for word of a Nosferatu remake. Finally it has happened!

I'm excited beyond belief for this. Nosferatu is without a doubt my favorite vampire film with its first remake by herzog coming in second.

This will likely be the first actually scary and legitimate vampire film brought to the big screen in decades.

Cameo by Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Nosferatu (1922) is actually my favorite horror film, but horror movies today are, well, different for obvious reasons. I guess my point is that you'd have to be really flexible because I can't see how it'd share any of it's charm beyond featuring Count Orlok.

Be prepared for lotsa jump scares and silly action. It won't be the atmospheric brilliance of Murnau and Herzog's films.
Oh yeah, and also:

Based on what people are saying about director Robert Eggers new film called The Witch; I have a good feeling this will be a tasteful well made film.

I hold Nosferatu very dear to my heart. I have a good feeling about this.

When the casting is released, that will say a lot.

There is no werewolf in Nosferatu. What the hell are you talking about?

My only concern is that we're going to get CG rats thanks to PETA.

Jokes are only funny when they actually pertain to the subject.

Nosferatu is not teeny bopper cheap trick horror bullshit. It's a real film. Any director with the balls to take it on has to know what they're getting into.

We should hold off from concerns until seeing Eggers "The Witch". Be fair to the director and give the guy a chance before we assume he's going to simply shit on the best horror film of all time.

I'm sorry, I assumed you'd understand because we're on a Castlevania forum and talking about movies. That's not sarcasm.

I really hope that it preserves the charm of the original.  This Summer, my local theatre and indie cinema screened an open air screening of the original, which a score done by some local guys.  It was meant to be performed live during the screening I believe, but it was tipping it down.  I had to abandon the screening myself half way through, as the rain was so bad.  But it was otherwise an amazing experience.

That would be cool to see.

I'm also a huge fan of the Herzog film.

I'm getting eerie vibes like those just from the witch preview.

I think it's safe to say that Egger isn't one of those cheap scare directors. Seems like he's got a handle on doing horror tastefully. I'm super excited to see the witch now as well.

Don't get rose-tinted vision simply because it's got A Symphony of Horror's name attached to it, now. It's still early.

Also, gonna call you on this:

This will likely be the first actually scary and legitimate vampire film brought to the big screen in decades.

I'm assuming that by "decades" you mean more than two, in which case 30 Days of Night, Shadow of the Vampire, Fright Night, Near Dark, Interview, Thirst, Coppola's Dracula, Daybreakers, and Let the Right One In would all like to have a word with you.

If it's anything less than rated R it's probably going to suck (no pun intended).. and it's probably not going to be silent (which it should be).
