Title: I wonder why there was only one Castlevania game for snes
Post by: AxeArmor on September 03, 2008, 10:38:26 AM
I wonder why there was only one Castlevania game for snes. Okay, there was two, but still. Vampires kiss was a half assed watered down rondo of blood game. I would in reality only count Super Castlevania.

It's weird since NES got 3 castlevania games, original gameboy got 3 etc. SNES had amazing capabilities and I think they should had released atleast another one. It puzzles me.

back in the days of the NES nintendo had a 70% or more market share in the gaming industry. when the genesis/Megadrive came along im not quite so sure they had such a foothold but obviously still quite high.

as Konami are a 3rd party developer/publisher they're going to put their games on the best selling format arent they? and the snes and genesis were probably more slightly evenly matched in sales figures... in Britain at least i know the megadrive sold better but the snes in the rest of the world.

gotta put your games where they sell, it's economics not what system can do it justice.

yes but that's not so strange. Castlevania was a nintendo console game at that time.

whatever dracula x was, it still got it. it'd be like saying there was only 1 n64 game. you'll also note the gameboy didn't get it's 3rd until the snes was dead(except in japan). the consoles with more cv games were simply the ones that had more lasting power.

You have to keep in mind that SNES didn't really gain popularity until 1992 and the PS1 came out in 1995, crushing all future hopes of SNES, Sega Genesis, and TurboGraffix. That's only 3 years, whereas the original nintendo held domination over the video gaming world from 1985 to 1993--8 years.

You don't count DXX yet you count Legends?

Yeah seriously.

If you want to go by that logical choice then I guess the Game boy only had Adventure, and Belmont's Revenge and the GBA only had CotM and AoS.

Dracula XX may not be as great as RoB, but it's still classic CV fun

Honestly, AxeArmor, I think you're just posting this just for the shock value, to insight arguments and cause trouble....So, if so, you're a dick

i think he went with it because dxx is a poor man's reimagination of rondo, with over half of the game cut out, and the rest redone into something else.

the games you cut out were either standalone or actual sequels. dxx is neither.

Dracula XX stands on its own. I find it exciting, despite claims of poor level design. And sure, it's not the greatest, but I find it an incredibly fun game.

But if DXX doesn't matter, why should CV4 esp for it bein aa remake?  I know that ya meant VAmpire Kiss is rondo cept for different things, but if you played both VK and ROB, they are different gameplay wize

The way I look at these games is like it's two different peoples perspectives. You know how when you hear an old story that everyone knows, but people tell it differently? Thats how I think about these games. It's a legend passed on by word of mouth that over the years seems to change from the original.

Anyways, this game does exist whether you like it or not.

there are significant gameplay differences between cv1 and cv4.

rondo and dxx are pretty much the same. dxx is slower and less responsive, but everything richter can do in xx he did in rondo too.

i want to see you doing downward whipping, whip swinging etc. in cv1.

That's exactly what i meant. It's a poor mans rondo.

Well, back then I didn't know about Rondo's existence so thats why it counts for me. Besides, it still would of been the prequel to Symphony if Rondo was made or not. I understand your view though.
