Since as Foffy said there seems to be a Bloodstained 2 in the VERY early stages of development (just talking about story and such), my friends and I over at the Bloodstained forums thought it would be fun to have a survey about what folks would like to see improved in a sequel and what new stuff you'd like to see! Konami might have also got Grant's last name from the real life village with different spelling, just like how they got the name Elisabeth Bartley from a real historical figure Elisabeth Bathory or Mathias Cronqvist from the name of King of Hungary Matthias Corvinus.

Could Konami have based themselves on the town name? Yeah. Is it likely given that Grant is portrayed as actual enemy of Dracula in the game, and there was an actual "House Danesti political enemy of Vlad III" at the time Vlad existed? On my opinion, no.

Still- Even if Konami DID base Grant's name on the town, "House Danesti opponent of Vlad III" seems way more important than "romanian town name". This is a wikipedia search away, which is why I think these guys know this, but insist on the "town name" thing to downplay the actual historical importance of the Danesti. Funny when you consider they wanted it to be so "accurate" to the time period. But of course, this is just one of many details that, to me, suggest they just want to bury Grant.

Even burying the character is fine by me, what is not is the constant provocation. One thing is "we are not having Grant, sorry fans!", another is "we are not having Grant AND we are also making fun of those who want him, they're so silly right?!" also "Oh and this character is obviously portrayed to be a Grant stand-in? Not Grant lmao".

Wasn't here for a moment. Not always easy to find spare time for this hobby and latest years were bit hectic too. So it goes at pace it goes. Turtle one (considering this is a reboot too).

I started anew on the game last summer from zero - with an empty build. Left all code, game structure, every map, enemy, basically all I had behind. Re-creating everything, assets and code included.

Thanks, guys. Been with that girl for seven years so I'm excited for many more and starting a family and that.

Injured the shiiit out of my back a few years ago from a car accident, didn't realize I had a herniated disc as a result. Sorta healed on its own but got reinjured spring last year, and I've been seeing a chiropractor ever since. Just went back for the first time in six weeks because I was spending too much money there and have been doing better since I got a steroid injection in September, but my lower back's been feeling tight so I needed to go. The nerve the disc was pressing on is so thin and damaged that I may have tingliness going down into my foot for the rest of my life, though hopefully it'll continue to repair itself and won't be an issue. At least now, after the injection, I can sit down for more than 10 minutes without being in a lot of pain or discomfort.

Anyway, all this to say that the stretching of my back and disc felt so good today that I could nut.

I am ashamed to say it but I have not beaten ANY of the classic formula Castlevania games. I know they are pretty hard and maybe that is why I only like to watch them being played. But I am about to embark on that journey in the near future. I will try and beat every Classic Castlevania I could get my hands on!

Good luck. As with a lot of games from that era, it's all about memorizing enemy patterns. On a good day, I can beat CV1 without much issue, when it used to kick my butt starting out. I feel the CV series at large holds up better than a lot of other 8- and 16-bit games and is well-balanced and not overly difficult.

ReBirth's still dead on the Wii. Konami would be dumb not to do a ReBirth trilogy pack on Switch, but Konami will Konami.

But hey, the GBC Shantae is on Switch. Recommended for fans of Simon's Quest and Wonder Boy/Monster World games.

Sounds like ROTN is improved but not enough. Honestly, there are games that pull off some fine coding on the system (Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, DOOM 2016), so whoever's handling the porting job must not be up to snuff. That's disappointing, because I see no reason why the Switch couldn't handle the game perfectly well, just with maybe a variable frame rate and resolution but most of the effects intact. I don't know if it's still the case, but I read the visual effects are pretty barebones on the Switch, so it has a much more simplistic look than on PS4. That's inexcusable; there are ways of paring back while retaining the same atmosphere.

Guess I'll hold off a bit more or indefinitely and just stick to playing on the TV on my PS4 Prizzo.
