...but Michiru Yamane's work on Skullgirls is arguably better and more inspired than anything she's done in Castlevania since Curse of Darkness.

What's cool is that there are these little moments in the soundtrack where it's ALMOST Castlevania, and then the 1920's and 30's jazz kicks back in, and it becomes it's own animal again.

Oddly, the whole "Dark Deco" setting of the game and it's music is making me want to play Bioshock some more.

BE RIGHT BACK.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Ehhh.

It just seems aimless to me in general. Anything that catches my eye seems to be derivative of Castlevania too.
And then in addition, the instrumentation and mixing are just a lot worse than her usual work, about on par with the Portrait of Ruin arranged tracks.

I don't see it. ???

sorry, can't bring myself to pay $15 for a game with only 9 characters, when they get more charachers (DLC) then I'll look at it some more
