Title: David Bowie dead at 69
Post by: Dracula9 on January 11, 2016, 01:13:31 AM

Cancer finally got the better of him.

And back unto the stardust whence we came doth he go.

Pretty bummed about this, but I'm really glad he died in the company of his family.

Rest well, Starman. You damn sure earned it.

Yeah it sucks and would have been nice if he could have made it to 70 years.
I'm glad to be hearing his music on the radio in his honour.

Damn, what a shame. Still, like Dracula said, it could have been worse. At least he died naturally and with his family, and after such a wonderfully accomplished life, at least he definitely won't be forgotten. So let's honor the time he spent with us by listening to his music! :D

Died at age 69? What a number *nudge-nudge-wink-wink*

I had heard that he was supposed to be going on tour or something. Ah well, RIP Goblin King.

Yeah, a local radio station was putting many songs of his to celebrate his 69's birthday, talked about his new album, and said they hope he would go on tour soon; two days later, they play more songs of his to mark his demise. And this happened so early after the death of another rock star, Lemmy Kilmister.  :P

His last video "Lazarus" is very eerie considering how close to his death it was released. I'm really bummed that I will never get to see a proper sequel to Labyrinth with him. RIP.

Sad to see another great rockstar passed away. I think it's 3 recently. Bowie,Weiland and Liminster(sorry for any incorrect spelling). The world lost alot of talent for sure. I also thought to myself even though Bowie was a great solo artist, he could have easily fit right in with the Beatles. At least imo. I really digged that movie labrynth he was in a long while back as he played the Goblin King. He played such a  mysterious person. But yeah  he had tons of great songs too. Let's Dance and Rebel Rebel amongst my favorites. THe space Oddity was neat too.Rip Bowie... :'(

I cried while writing my farewell letter for him (https://stargazingamaranth.wordpress.com/2016/01/11/david-bowie-has-passed-away-and-there-will-never-be-another-like-him/) on my blog today. As I wrote there, "He died doing what he lived for: getting one last album, one last song, out for the world to enjoy."

And he dropped his new, final, album just 2 days before he died. It really was all about getting that one last song out there.

I liked your article/ farewell letter.

As someone who had a family member also in their 60's pass from cancer, the part where you mentioned him still beating the odds resonated with me on a personal level.

Our time on this Earth isn't fair and it's not just, it's bittersweet. To never hear a musician perform or release music again at a public level is like never hearing a family member laugh, cry, be happy or express emotion and say to you "I love you" again. (and this is true for his family also)

Let's be thankful for the time we have on this Earth regardless of our environment or belief system. We only have a limited time.

Let's defy the odds and live. People say Castlevania is dead, I say it's buried alive. Just look at the strength of the CV community in this dungeon and tell me Castlevania is dead..

Getting back onto track RIP to all of our fallen loved ones whether they be our heroes, our inspiration, our ancestors, our family or our friends.

Made this little thing as a tribute. (https://soundcloud.com/dracula9antichapel/david-bowie-tribute-under-pressure-megaman-x1-arrange)

Really it's absolutely nothing in the face of all the magic the man gave the world, but I felt like I had to do something out of respect.

I respect that, as much as I respect the Blue Bomber's legacy.

How about a custom Mega Man character called "Pressure Man" http://orig11.deviantart.net/80ab/f/2009/299/a/b/fanmade_mega_man_robot_masters_by_darkmetaknightftw.png (http://orig11.deviantart.net/80ab/f/2009/299/a/b/fanmade_mega_man_robot_masters_by_darkmetaknightftw.png)
Looks as if it's been done (not by me)

It would have meant a lot to a guy like him.

David thrived on reinventing himself, so why would he have thought less of a remix that did just that?

I had heard that he was supposed to be going on tour or something.

Doubtful since he'd been battling cancer for 18 months and must have known he would die. The new album was recorded early 2015 and I imagine the videos were filmed quite a while back, too.

His latest and last single was his farewell, though I didn't know it at the time.

Four musicians from my childhood, teenage and early 20 years, dead within the span of a month, not to mention the death of  the Tall Man from Phantasm a couple days ago, it's been a shitty month.

Scott Weiland
Natalie Cole
Lemmy "The Fucking Man" Kilmeister
David  "Ziggy Stardust" Bowie

Talking about Bowie with my 27 year old sister and her 21 year old husband, they can't appreciate the man, they called his music awful, that hurt more than having a sword through the heart. Their taste in music is pretty shitty though, so it was expected.

He will always have this.

I was shocked when I heard this news.
His music is great and his role as the Goblin King was awesome.

I'm really bummed that I will never get to see a proper sequel to Labyrinth with him. RIP.
Me too, but the manga sequel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_to_Labyrinth) is good enough, I think, maybe.
