Title: Despite Money Dispute, Simpsons Renewed for Two More Seasons

So, what are your thoughts on this, Dungeonites?

Myself, I think that both sides are being too greedy in this situation; the voice actors are ungodly spoiled (their paycut will still leave them about $4.4 million each), but on the flipside, it's despicable that the bigwigs are insisting on paycuts so that THEY get a raise. This results in leaving nobody the victor in this spectacle in my opinion. This kinda mess is what happens when you don't let such a long-running show gracefully bow out when it has the chance.

UPDATE: Simpsons renewed for a 24th and 25th season.

eras are ending all over the place. it's like people know the world only has 14 months left so let's wrap up everything (Simpsons, Batman, Castlevania, etc.) I'm just being silly lol

But in all seriousness I grew up watching The Simpsons. I don't think the "new generation" episodes are as funny as the classics, but with new writers all the time things were bound to change.

It sucks that what it all comes down to is GREED & MONEY. Art gets ruined that way, and I can't say I feel sorry for the voice actors since they've been ridiculously rich since the 90's and they'll still receive checks from the reruns that'll continue to air for the next 10 years (if the Mayans were wrong, that is)

I heard about this yesterday.... I'm more on the side of the VA. I mean, they've been paid 8 mil, and you want them to do the same for 4 mil? That's like going to an employee and saying, you're doing all these other jobs as well but you aren't getting a raise. Or we are lowering your incom, but you will be expected to do the same.

But I find it hard to feel sad when they're still making millions.

I don't think it's such a big deal at all. Even if the VA get a cut from their pay, they're still making way more then enough to get by in life, unlike us who're actually working to survive  :P The Simpsons has been running on the air for some 20+ years. That's a long time for a cartoon sitcom so to me it really doesn't matter if the series ends. I'm still waiting for the Simpson kids to age for Christ sake! Now that's immortality. At least I can still watch Futurama.

UPDATE: Simpson's 24th season will be its last.

So sad to see one of TV's greatest juggernauts fall like this. Of course, with the way the show's been going since 2003, it kinda deserves it in my opinion.

Well, from what I'd heard the Simpsons had been on a decline anyways...I think the end was inevitable. I wonder who its successor will be...

I haven't cared about animation on Fox since 2006. It's all about Adult Swim, now (except for that Seth McFarlane crap).

But man, when the Simpsons was good, it was...perfect.

What the Hell was that? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR7m-4Vc3MU#ws)

The first time I saw this, I laughed in tears.

I never really liked Simpsons. While I laughed at some episodes, others seemed far too childish. Since the series is intended "for the whole family" there are hardly any adult jokes.

But Family Guy, now that's a different story. I absoulutely LOVE IT, but the series is so f**ked-up and adult oriented I feel uncomfortable when my sister watches it with me.

South Park - What What What??? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFtn2Ke0vwQ#)

Everyone can watch the Simpsons, but adults get the most out of the humour. And I think that's the best thing about the Simpsons; it's not a kid show, but kids can watch it (and in the 90's, at least, they did). Something South Park or anything MacFarlane poops out of his brain have never been able to do.

I think Simpsons was brilliantly written back in the day. It was an honor for a celebrity to appear in it. They made fun of them, but they managed to do it without going nasty, yet still keeping the jokes sharp.

Family Guy Died when it was Canceled, when they brought it back it slowly turned into the complete shitfest it is today.
Note: Just because you change minor Details doesn't make it different, Seth MacFarline.
American Dad, Family Guy, and Cleveland show are the same shit.

In its prime, The Simpsons had far more adult humor than Family Guy—and when I say adult, I mean clever and sometimes risque humor that adults would pick up on the most. FG panders to 16-year-old males and 20- and 30-something hicks who never grew out of it.

I would have to strongly disagree with you on that, Kamui. I love the newer Family Guy episodes.

Family Guy may have started as a rip-off of The Simpsons, but it grew to become something far more radical.
I think it started as a cartoon for the whole family until a certain point Seth McFarlene said: "fuck it. I'm not anyone's dog. I'm gonna throw in all the crazy ideas I have in my twisted mind. The viewers can like it or leave it."
And that's why I love Family Guy so much; No censorship, no limits. At a certain point, no plot whatsoever. The creators let themselves loose and throw in stuff that are totally random.
It's a sick parody of American life, of life in general. It makes fun of EVERYTHING. It slaughters every sacred cow. Politics, race, religion, sexism, ww2 & holocaust jokes. It's all in there, mixed with sick twisted characters (like Quagmire and Herbert the old pedophile)
It's extremely offensive for ignorant people who don't see their ignorance. It's genius. If you don't like it, your sense of humor is not twisted enough, mates.

It's not really an issue of Family Guy being too offensive for me (I'll bet a lot of people don't really find it all that offensive either), it's just that it sometimes comes across as being a little douchey. I can find stuff on Family Guy that I think is pretty funny, but there's stuff that's just overdone (like how Cleveland would always fall out of the tub), kind of irritating (Peter skinning his knee), or just thrown in for shock value but devoid of humor (Horton Hears Domestic Violence in the apartment downstairs but doesn't do anything, or whatever it was called). And I don't really like Seth McFarland's reliance on musical numbers...I've always thought stuff like that in comedies was kind of dull.

Like I said, I can get some pretty good laughs from the show occasionally, but the show just seems kind of tired and a little annoying to me overall.

South Park is the Parody of American life.
I do admit Seth made something good, but he's driving it to a point where no one will watch it.

One can only make Stereotype jokes and it being funny, or his worst Repeated jokes and Recycled shit that died on the internet 3 months ago...
Making every character a hypocrite of themselves every other episode and worst of all making them hated.
Simpsons just got old, and therefore most of the jokes aren't funny anymore...
Family Guy... WTF happened? Tim and Eric puts more effort in thier shows than family guy now...

This is different from South Park how? Except that South Park is well-written, clever, and genuinely funny. It has nothing to do with one's sense of twisted humor; I like messed up humor very much. Toxic Avenger 1 and 4 and Terror Firmer = way more twisted than Family Guy, and about a billion times more funny.
