No problem with me. Chinese action movies are good.

Would've loved to have seen Arnie and Sly team up back in the 80s for this. Or even a CG movie today with them lending their voices. Alas...

Well here's hoping it works out for everyone. I too would have loved a Contra movie to have been done in the 80's with our two favourite action heroes. The 80's decade was the perfect time to do it.

We had Expendables 2, which was absolutely kickass.
But yeah, making a movie based on a game that was a parody of action movies is kinda funny.  ;D

So long as it doesn't open with "Nicholas Cage.... Is.... CONTRAAAA!"

We've been waiting ages for this...

Also official:

I can't say they didn't hit all the strings on my heart with this tiny teaser. I also read that Contra was and IS really big on China, explaining why the movie is getting made there.

As long as it has two buff dudes shooting things and shit exploding everywhere, and a giant alien heart at the end, I am satisfied.

For those unaware of the Contra lore, it actually does have quite an interesting and convoluted story. It could be explored on this movie no problem.

I feel that the story of Contra is actually fairly straight-forwards. The american version of the story is a bit more convoluted since they changed it from an already future-esque setting to a late 20th century one. Hardcore Uprising is an alternate universe prequel so it kinda stands on it's own. However I also feel that Contra 4 (awesome game to be sure) only adds to the confusion as it is a sequel to the american version of Operation C. In the Japanese version of Operation C there is no Black Viper. At least as far as Contra: Shattered Soldier's backstory history files is concerned. I am very curious as to what the Japanese version of Contra 4's story is since I can't seem to find it or any translations for it. Shiroi help! Please?

Contra 4's story is actually the same in Japanese, except that Mad Dog and Scorpion are not mentioned to be heroes of Operation C (implying the are new heroes to this game, since Mad Dog and Scorpion of Japanese Operation C ARE Bill and Lance).

What I mean by the lore being convoluted is that there are government conspiracies at work. There is a more complex reason for the alien invasion.

Oh that part. Some might see it that way and it's understandable. But it does set up nicely why the Moirai are dispatched to earth in the first place.

Yup! That's it in a nutshell  ;)

perhaps it might rival Uwe Boll Contra

Shattered Soldier would make a great movie.

I think they already made this movie. It was called "almost every film Ahnuld starred in in the late 80's".

But still, I'm game for a film laced with Grade A Pure Uncut Colombian Testosterone.

Haha. True.
As long as it stays pure action flick, I'm gonna enjoy it.
