Title: Lords of Shadow 2 - fan timeline
Post by: Anglachel on April 28, 2014, 10:24:44 AM
I started this thread because I love the Lords of Shadow universe and I know plenty of others do as well, and this thread is for anyone who wishes to add their own twist to the timeline in Lords of Shadow. What I really look forward to, from you awesome guys, is the best of both worlds: the long, spanning mythos from the original timeline as well as the great character development in the Lords of Shadow universe. I won't always have ideas right away, and I'll have to modify the timeline a lot to make sense of it, but that's where you come in: give me a good idea and on the timeline it goes!
may end up editing
Note: Please check over the timeline completely from time to time. I things before (recton sweep) in order to make things fit with other people's ideas, which I'm always looking forward to hearing.

The timeline will start with the chronological ending of Mirror of Fate.

1103- Dracula is defeated by his son Alucard and his grandson Simon Belmont. As they part ways, Alucard returns to Carmilla's throne room and recovers a fragment of the Vampire Killer used by Gabriel Belmont. Alucard flees the sinking castle, and Simon Belmont watches from afar and bids Alucard farewell.

Descending down the mountain, Simon realizes he has won a hollow victory, and feels humbled and ashamed. He realizes that had Alucard not been there, he himself would have been easily overpowered. "You damn fool, Simon," he thinks to himself, "To think that I wouldn't be standing here if luck hadn't been with me!" Traveling down the mountain, Simon wonders about Alucard's words "This is not how a vampire is supposed to die." He then thinks about what Dracula said about Trevor's cross being an "old relic." Simon suspects that Dracula is still out there somewhere, waiting for the best time to return. Simon can then only think about his parents, and he resolves that he'll have to be better prepared if that should happen. "Time to meet the past," he says, and looks for the Brotherhood of Light his illustrious father belonged to.

He finds the Brotherhood's new fortress built around the small town of Aldra. The leaders of the group notice Simon holds Trevor's combat cross, and they demand to know who he is. He tells them his story, from the assault of the stronghold & death of his mother all the way to the staking of Dracul with his battle cross. Simon's story finds him great popularity within the town, and his name and prowess in warfare make him even more legendary. The Brotherhood then invites him to join the order, recognizing his status as vampire killer, son of Trevor Belmont, and his fierceness and skill in combat. Simon accepts, still worried about Dracula's whereabouts.

Simon quickly becomes the best general to ever lead the Brotherhood, winning battles with dark forces left and right. Knights see it as an honor to serve under him, and children often play games, pretending to be the famous Simon and the evil Dracul. Some see Simon as being even more than a hero, and that he is a chosen warrior from the heavens.

1105
- Simon marries Selena, a daughter of a Brotherhood priest. By the end of the year, Selena gives birth to twins: Leon and Esther Belmont.

Throughout their childhood, Simon tells Leon and Esther about the terror of Dracul, and how he defeated the Dragon with their grandfather's sacred weapon. Simon decides that it is best for the children to become warriors like him, and when they are old enough, Leon and Esther begin their training. Leon receives knighthood at the age of 16. Both of them inherit the new Brotherhood title, Vampire Hunter.

1124 - There has been much peace in the land since 1103. Seeing this, Western Russian immigrants move into Wallachia to enjoy the beautiful scenery and quiet country. Leon Belmont marries one of them, Sara Trantoul, and Esther marries a brave, Germanic Brotherhood knight, Michael Schneider.

1134 - Gabriel Belmont has been in limbo since being staked by Trevor's weapon. He has been in a netherworld, regaining his strength in spirit form so that he may take physical form again. The blood of his castle is with him, pouring into him so that he might return and live.

Dracula's life force returns, and the castle rises. The town of Aldra receives word almost too late, but Simon Belmont has been fearing this for many years. His children Leon and Esther both know what is happening, and they tell Simon they will go and defeat him. Simon is worried that they won't be strong enough to defeat him, but he also realizes that unless something is done, Dracul will go unchallenged. With a heavy heart, Simon lends them Trevor's cross, and allows them to go on their journey, as he once did many years ago.

Leon and Esther travel a long time, through the Veros Woods and through Wygol Village. Once inside the castle, they encounter heavy resistance. Demonic shadows, enchanted swords, floating eyes that shoot a piercing gaze. They are quick to dispatch them, with their ferocious training overcoming whatever obstacle they face. When they reach the Castle Treasury, they notice a man standing in the hallway with them. They look at his pale skin and yellow eyes, and suspect vampirism. They even notice that he holds a weapon similar to the one they both carry, but it seems more cruel and dark. They ready themselves for battle. However, he does not attack. He only looks at them, and Leon detects some sorrow in this creature. He approaches them and asks if they are from the Belmont family. When they tell him so, he tells them that if they need help, he will be there. He transforms in a bat and then leaves. Both Leon and Esther are puzzled by this, and hope their father Simon can answer when they return home.

They reach the throne room together, and they see the infamous vampire before on his throne. Leon tells a trembling Esther, "We will do this together." Dracula can see very plainly that they are Belmonts, and addresses them. "So, the blood of Simon is here again. Ha, I thought that fool would have learned after what happened the last time we met. I easily possessed your father's weak and zealous mind. Had I not gone easy on him, he would be in a bones today, with his blood flowing through my heart." "Our father defeated you! We have vowed to do the same as he," declares Esther. Dracul chuckles at this, and says, "I had not realized I was defeated. Am I not standing here before you? And here you are, trying to be like your father. How will that bastard Simon feel once I put your corpses on a stake to adorn my castle?!" Leon shouts at him, enraged, "You despicable blight! Time to put an end to your words!" Dracul says, "Maggots of Simon Belmont...I will have fun with these whelps of his."

They engage him, with their crosses chaining all over the place. Their skills surprise Dracul, and he recognizes that they are more skilled than Simon was. While he is distracted by Leon's relics, he is grabbed from behind by Esther, and he only laughs as stakes are driven into his heart and his stomach, repeatedly. He disappears into a glow of red light.

"Leon, isn't that what father said happened? That's how Dracula died when he fought him?" Esther says. Leon confirms this, and adds, "It's strange, Esther, but I could almost think that Dracula allowed us to kill him. It's like it's what he wanted." Esther and Leon confused, but the castle begins to falter, so they quickly run their way out and escape to the safety of the forest. "Just like father said, again," Leon comments. They decide it's best to tell their father about their journey, and they return to Aldra.

Simon hears their tale, and he believes that nothing can be done to permanently destroy Dracula. "The only thing we can do," says Simon, "is to be prepared at all time for that castle of the Devil to return so that we, the Belmonts, can destroy it's master."

1137 - Sara gives birth to Alexandru Belmont, and Esther has a son, Jantis Schneider. That same year, a paladin from the Brotherhood destroys the Glaciem blade.

1140 - Leon Belmont becomes the leader of the Brotherhood. Simon Belmont and his wife both pass away from old age. The Brotherhood erects a statue in the Legacy Cemetery, along with his father Trevor. Leon and Esther return home, and as night passes, a mysterious figure goes to Simon's grave site, lamenting..,

1194 - Christopher Belmont, Simon Belmont's descendant, leaves his wife and son at the Brotherhood's call and goes into a campaign to investigate the emergence of undead Brotherhood Knights in a nearby town named Jova. He eventually discovers that his son, Soleil, is the responsible for resurrecting the knights and attacking the populace using terrible dark magic. Christopher chases him down through the town, and inside Bodley Mansion, a mansion believed to be haunted. Finally, he discovers that his son is under the effect of an ancient artifact, the Shadow Gem Medallion. After a brutal battle and breaking it's five gems, Christopher sets his son's will free from the medallion, which releases a corrupt spirit calling himself Dracula. Christopher then battles and defeats the spirit, making Bodley Mansion crumble to dust, and freeing Jova and it's people from the Dracula's lingering influence through the Shadow Gem Medallion.

1340 - The Hundred Years' War stated less than 5 years ago. Mankind is on the verge of destruction. Castlevania emerges once again.
The Brotherhood of Light starts to think Dracula's influence is behind those events. However, as many of the soldiers are helping in the conflicts, the Brotherhood Elders decide not to send a lot of men. They instead ask Shanoa (b. 1322), one of their best disciples, to go investigate the castle. The young woman was trained by one of the Elders, Barlowe, who taught her how to use a new form of magic, Glyphs. Shanoa goes to the castle, helped by a Brotherhood captain named Row DaNasty (b. 1314), descendant of a noble Brotherhood knight.
As the travel to the castle, Shanoa and Row are attacked by a monstrous Cyclops who turns them into stone statues. They only survive thanks to the intervention of a vampire hunter named Julius (b. 1316), who defeats the Cyclops with a Combat Cross. Julius reveals he's a descendant of the Belmonts, who sensed for an unknown reason that Dracula returned. The three agree to travel together to Dracula's castle.
Once inside the castle, Alucard appears and warns them not to go deeper in the castle. Alucard sees Julius' Combat Cross, and understands he's a Belmont. He asks Julius for a duel, and the young Belmont emerges victorious. Alucard acknowledges the team is capable of entering the castle, and he explains a dark priest called Shaft is trying to resurrect Dracula. The four then rush through the castle, battling monsters and demons of all sorts.
Once in the throne room, the priest Shaft appears with the Devil Mask and threatens them. They battle and once defeated, Shaft's Devil Mask falls, and Shanoa recognizes her ancient master, Barlowe. The Elder explains he's trying to resurect Dracula because Mankind is facing destruction, and that people need a common enemy (Dracula) to stop fighting each other. However, a dark cloud emerges from Dracula's tomb, and wraps Barlowe: Dracula appears in front of the four warriors.
Alucard senses something strange, like if it wasn't the true Dracula. The group battles the evil vampire. After a long duel, Dracula is vanquished, but as he dies, the Prince of Darkness casts a curse upon Europe: the Black Death would start in the days to come. Alucard explains it wasn't Dracula, but a sort of bad copy made by Barlowe. Alucard states his doesn't know where is Dracula, but swears he'll do his best to find where he's hiding. The group escapes the castle and separates.

During the fight, an elusive Necromancer enters into a tower that had lost it's protective seal years ago, enters the realm of shadow, and finds what his master wants..

Afterward, Alucard recovers the Igneas blade fragments and merges them with the Glaciem blade and the Vampire Killer stake, and the enchanted Crissaegrim blade is forged.

1547 - The Paladin of God, Roland de Ronceval, leads an army of 500,000 Brotherhood troops against Dracula's castle. Dracula takes down Gandolfi's Siege Titan, and bests Roland in single combat. Roland fails in his attempt to vanquish Dracula through magic, and he and his army group are killed by the holy power. When the dust settles, Alucard appears with the Crissaegrim, and conspires with his father to destroy Satan and Zobek. Dracula agrees to his plan, and Alucard thrusts the magic sword into Dracul's heart, putting him to sleep. Alucard puts his father in a coffin inside of the Chapel of Dissonance, and leaves...

1747 -With the threat of Dracula having been vanquished, the general population eases back into the long forgotten areas where the castle once stood. Priests begin performing holy ceremonies to cleanse the land. The descendants of the Bernhard family approve of the city plans, and venture with Count Zobek, who has gained enormous wealth, to begin construction. The Wygol family is also involved, and the city is named Wygol City, to honor the quaint village of Wygol that once stood dangerously close to Dracul's castle.

1773 - Richter Belmont is born.

1793 - Richter Belmont, having become a brilliant bellic inventor and strategist instead of a master combatant, takes up the lead of the Brotherhood and through his leadership, brings a new era of progress, both technologic, both strategic into their power. One of his earliest choices are the employment of a briliant physicist and electrical engineer, Dr. Emmet Marron into their ranks. Through Marron's discoveries and their teamed effort, Richter planned on further advancing the Brotherhood's knowledge about their past battles against evil, specially Dracula and his origins. Marron eventually partners with Mechanical engineer Friedrich von Frankenstein, and after a year of brutal work from all three men, they develop the first time manipulation device, a reflective surface able to access future events through complex probability calculations, a device enabling the wearer to fly, and one enabling them to run faster and longest than any human could.
Little after developing the first time manipulation device, Frankenstein disappears, with every blueprint conceived by Marron alone and with himself and Richter, and the reflective surface. Sensing his downfall due to his combat inability, and before leaving after Frankenstein, Richter confides to his younger sister a letter designed to be opened in case he doesn't return in one year. Richter then takes the flight and running devices, leaves the Brotherhood base and follows Frankenstein's path during weeks, all the way to the now in ruins Dracula's Castle.
After a days of search, Richter finds in the castle catacombs a fully functional time displacement machine, in the shape of a chamber. The machine is still half operational, and seems to have been modified by Frakenstein himself. Richter activates the power and gets inside.
He ends up travelling to a now completelly rebuilt Dracula's Castle, albeit with no idea of what age he is in. The machine runs out of energy, and Richter flees the now infested Castle. He discovers that the flight device and the running devices now malfunction shortly after operation thanks to the time displacement effects and decides to leave the heavy flight device behind for easier escape, while using the malfunctioning running device on his aid.
Eventually, Richter finds out the Brotherhood's base, on the exact same place. Unable to return to his time, unable to fight the hordes of darkness alone, and unable to discover Frankenstein's whereabouts, Richter changes his identity. His engineering brilliantism and previously unknown, futuristic knowledge about weaponry attracts the Brotherhood's attention, and after little time, he's the one who builds the parafernalia used by the Brotherhood to fight evil. One such piece of equipment is a exact replica of his Combat Cross, however without all the necessary upgrades for it to be fully operational, primarily out of fear from someone discovering his origins, but mainly by order of his superiors. He gives this only copy to the Brotherhood to keep, and present to their greatest warrior, once one rises to such a rank.

Working under the Brotherhood, Richter was able to learn even more, including alchemy and magic, and it's secrets. He had apprendices learn from him, some with really brilliant futures. His last planned creation was an enormous battle machine that worked as both carrier for Brotherhood Knights, and an assault weapon, designed to function like a titanic robot.
Eventually Richter made a family for himself, and had a daughter. Aiming to prejudice one of the Brotherhood's greatest assets, a vampire sent by the evil forces kidnapped his daughter, however. Richter left home in pursue of the monster never to be seen again.

One year after Richter's absence, his sister Sonya takes his place as the leader of the Brotherhood. She gives the letter to Marron. It contained instructions for two new weapons to be built using Richters plans and Emmet's skill, and to be intrusted to Sonya in order to fight the hordes of darkness in case they ever rise again. One is a reverse engineered plan for the Combat Cross, and another is a plan for a mass-increasing device powered by electricity-generating batteries.

1814 - Juste Belmont is born in Bucharest.

1830 -

2057 - Alucard removes the sword from Dracula's chest, and Dracula awakens hours later and is soon visited by Zobek, who makes a deal with Dracula: defeat Satan, save the world, and he will grant Gabriel his eternal rest.

(I would find it very cool if games were made for a LoS timeline, where Dracula is always back, like in the old days, but through other means, since the true Dracula is "dead". He left plenty of ways to influence the world even while sleeping)

Hm, almost sounds like everyone will be fighting a "fake" Dracula, similar to the Dracula Wraith.

Not really. It's all about creativity. I could think of a number of ways to have Dracula's influence looming over the story without him ever appearing.

That does remind me, I wonder if Dracula's relics could ever work in the Lords of Shadow timeline...

I did find it awkward to think that for 500 years Dracula was just completely forgotten about. What did the Belmont or the Brotherhood family think about that? I find it hard to believe that nothing at all with Dracula happened during all that time.

Yours is great.  :) I liked the allusion to the Hundred Years' War. One thing I like about Castlevania is that it kind of feels like it tries to merge our world with the fantasy world of Castlevania.

Hey, guys and gals. I really want to hear also about what you thought was going to happen in the present day city in Lords of Shadow 2. What part would Victor play? How would the world react to Dracula returning? Is the Lost Soul still alive?

1480 - Little more than one hundred years after Julius battle, Reinhardt Belmont is sent by the Brotherhood to investigate the coincidental disappearance of several children and emergence of vampiric activity on France. Reinhardt finds out that Dracula has returned, and seek out to defeat him on the catacombs under Paris. On his way he meets a german cartographer sent by the Brotherhood to aid him on finding his way on the labirinth that are the catacombs. His name was Hartmann Schedel, and along providing Reinhardt with useful maps, also provided him with medicine and acurate monster data cataloged by an ancient ability that he perfected and made possible to execute through a machine, and taught it to Reinhardt: the Imprinting ability, that sent monster's souls to Hartmann's imprinting machine and turned them into book pages describing in detail their peculiarities by an automatic process, as opposed to the ancient manual one.
Eventually, Reinhardt found all the missing children. They had been turned into monsters by a witch working under Dracula named Actrice, who needed their purity to guard special points on the catacombs that served as pillars of the city, and would be destroyed at the same time in a ritual for Dracula to restore his power. After being defeated, the monsters were reverted back into their human child forms. Having their objective failed, Actrise and Dracula attacked Reinhardt at the same time, but were defeated. Upon defeat, Reinhardt discovered that Dracula was in fact Gilles de Rais, a murderer returned from the grave and turned vampire by Dracula's blood, now assuming Dracula's identity hoping to intimidate the population. By breaking a mysterious purple crystal in his possession, Gilles de Rais summoned a demon to destroy Reinhardt, but Reinhardt succeeded again, and just as he was about to finish the vampire, a black shadow wielding a scythe appeared and sliced him in two, ending his existence and uttering the words "You have failed your purpose, vampire. Embrace your true death!". Actrise escaped defeat at the last moment.

Reinhardt never discovered who provided Gilles de Rais' body with Dracula's blood, but suspected that the perpretator was the black shadow, and hoped to recreate Dracula's power for his own objectives.

He gives this only copy to a young, powerful warrior, who rises through the Brotherhood ranks as the greatest warrior of them all in hopes that he does justice to their secretly shared names, and erases darkness from Earth.

Working under the Brotherhood, Richter was able to learn even more, including alchemy and magic, and it's secrets.
After having his identity discovered by a Brotherhood commander, however, Richter disappeared never to be seen again.
I might be reading this wrong, and I may have misremembered some things, but are you implying that Richter is Rinaldo?

Oh no no, me? Noooo, no, what? Me? Nah man, you're imagining things. Also, I'm still editing the text, as I remembered somethings wrong too.

(Not only Rinaldo's origins, but the origins of the Wings relic, the Boots relic, Victor's "enlarging" relic, and well... The Mirror of Fate")

Huh? But I did something (hopefully interesting) with him, no? It's the LoS timeline, and two Belmonts were made in other characters, fused. So I though "why not take one more prominent Belmont and make him another important character?".

No, not that. I was wondering what post it was you wanted to get deleted (even though I can't do it lol.)

Besides, the Richter is on the timeline now.

I misposted one time by pressing "quote" instead of "modify" once, creating a double post.

About Richter, thanks man, did you like it?
Theo nly thing that quite dont' fit is the birth of Juste Belmont... From a back-in-time Richter. Richter didn't have a family on his present time, leaving the Belmont lineage for Sonya to continue...

I think it's gonna be another chicken and the egg ordeal.  :D But I'm not sure where to go with Juste's story. Maybe you guys could help? Also, I'm trying to fit Slogra and Gaibon in here desperately. That's what I wanna see.

We'll do something about Slogra and Gaibon ;)

Also, let me ask you something. Please put in a date on the timeline for the colonization of the area where Dracula's Castle is. It'd be around 1747 by what Castle wiki says based on the scrolls: (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Lords_of_Shadow_Timeline (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Lords_of_Shadow_Timeline)). It mentions the Wygols, the Bernhardts (I have plans for them), Zobek and Thorir of Norway. Seeing as the city was still under construction by the 1800s, we can get Juste to come from another country (where the original Brotherhood base is) around 1830-40 in secret and build the first underground base for the Brotherhood under the castle/city. He can set up the "electric batteries that make you grow" under the secret entrance to face any invaders. He can also be the one to develop a way to explore the castle in an "astral plane" like we see Gabriel do in LoS2, through the creation of the wolf medallion, opening a possibility for a Belmont to battle Inner Dracula.

Hey, guys. I did quite a bit of editing, putting in some more locations and some more dialogue. I was just thinking of a few things while doing so.

1. How do you think Alucard feels about the Belmonts? Do you think that he wishes to be with his descendants again? After all, looking at his own son, I think he feels a regret for not being their for him, and that's why he helps the Belmont family, because he longs to have a family with him.

2. Do you think the Cronqvists have anything to do with this plot? What happens to them? Are they all dead? Is Gabriel truly a bastard Cronqvist?

3. I was thinking of something about Dracula and the Belmont family. Do you think that even though Dracula still wants revenge, but is even a little happy to see his descendants, even though they are trying to kill him? Maybe Dracula gets a little sad when he sees his own family coming in trying to kill him. I mean, it wouldn't really make sense with how he mauled Simon and possessed him, but I'm just wondering how he feels when a new warrior comes to face him.
