You know these forums are all the same, a bunch of crybabies. Chapel, Dungeon, all the same crap. I try to have a conversation about Castlevania stuff on either site and I am told what I can and cant talk about. Posts get locked and deleted, but other posts with people threatening to break people in half are left open and encouraged to go on with replies. You got all kinds of people fighting and insulting each other over which Castlevania game is better. I am not coming back to the Dungeon or Chapel sites ever again, not their forums or main sites. You can go ahead and delete all those threads of mine you locked too.

You're seriously complaining about off-topic/non-Castlevania-related (only related in the sense that they pertain to Castlevania message boards) threads in the Castlevania section being locked?
C'mon now, surely you have more sense than that? Oh, wait—this is the Internet. So let's make a thread and bitch about how all these Castlevania forums are shit and the same.

I don't think anyone's being a crybaby.
However, certain sections are made for certain discussion.
If you go to Fan Stuff and don't talk about music/art/sprites/graphics, and instead talk about the latest version of DoubleDragon, you're gonna get your post moved.
If you go to HG101 and talk about Castlevania games, your post will get moved to CvGDiscussion.
If you go to CVGDiscussion and talk about OFF TOPIC, your post will get moved to Off Topic.
With all of these, if there's already a post about that topic in that forum, then one of the topics will get locked (EDIT: We make it a general rule to keep a locked topic up for a day or so, so that people catch up on stuff in case anything was missed).
If you read the "Read here first" thread (our Rules thread, essentially), we don't tolerate spam posts, or general asshattery. One of the threads was advertising another site to go to (which is frowned upon here), and the other was talking about another site being down, a thread that has a counterpart thread here, in Off Topic. I think locking the thread (which means people can still view it) is a good procedure. But I suppose I could have merged those two topics with the one here at Off Topic. Apologies for not having thought of that option until now.
Actually, I take that back. No apologies for having not merged, since it would just generate thread redundancy.
If I were a true forum nazi I would've just erased the posts. I didn't, and did refer to the topic that exists in Off Topic, sooooooooooo...

I can't really understand why people make these "I MAD! I LEAVING!" posts in the *very forums* they're decrying. I've left a few places before for a variety of reasons, but I went quietly, or at least under different circumstances than a whiny farewell post. If you really find an internet forum to be so "bad," then just leave. What do you hope to accomplish by whining about it?

Try not to be so angry with those at the forum there Draculas Curse. Jorge has set up a set of rules for us to follow by in order to protect us and anybody else and also keep the forum itself clean and organized. When I first logged onto the Dungeon back in the early 2000's, such rules never existed and as such, there were several instances we're people (new and old) would be 'witch hunted' so to speak by almost anybody looking to 'get in on the action' without realizing the damage they'd be causing and not care at all about who they ended up hurting. Trust me, this site is a lot better then it was. At first I thought that having so many rules would severely limit ability to converse with all those here. but that's just not the case at all. You should sit down with jorge and have an e-mail disscusion to clear the air of any missunderstandings you might have. ;)

Considering how strict and enforced certain rules are on this board now, I look back and am amazed at how much we got away with on the ezboard. Seems like if you posted "WARNING" at the beginning of a thread title, you could post everything just short of child porn.
Times have changed, they have.
Now that I think about it, that was pretty rotten of us, ha ha. (Not of Jorge and I, but of myself and the other miscreants.) The most popular website about Castlevania on the entire interwebz, a series that really doesn't have all that extreme of content and a lot of kids play, and here the message board attached to it is a total dreg full of smut and filth. Good times.

Seriously, there was an actual random thread all about HERMAPHRODITES (in bold and in ALLCAPS no less). It was so immature but great. A thread to bring about more awareness about 'hermaphrodites'.

I remember how &#%$ing awful the swear filter was. Couldn't even type Yoshitaka Amano without it coming out as Yo&#%$aka Amano. Seems like once that filter was eliminated...all efforts to censor the board were gone.
I still feel a bit of pride in knowing that before Tubgirl became all the rage on the internetz, two or three years prior it was known at the Dungeon as "The Pic." I couldn't believe how retarded the name Tubgirl was. Kept thinking, "No way, it's called 'The Pic.' What is this bullshittery?"
I kinda like ICVD's Encyclopedia Dramatica page (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/ICVD) (NSFW and stuffs). Wasn't fond of it at first because a lot of it's pretty inaccurate and about half was written by someone who wasn't even around at the time but who heard it all secondhand...but, still, I think it's kinda cute. Though it leaves out what I consider to be important details, like my board, Freaksville, being the place where we mostly all gathered for a while, and the famed "Dungeon as a family" post was made, where it was decided amongst Devilotx, D'moon, and I that The Bootleg Castlevania Dungeon should be created (another ezboard that mimicked exactly the look of the defunct official board), before the name was changed to The Inverted Castlevania Dungeon Board, and how eventually I lost my role as admin on one of the many incarnations of ICVD by being a total asshat and deleting everything and I think stripping other admins of their adminship (all but Devil, I believe, who had POWER SUPREME) and all that... Goooooood stuff. (Apparently my actions were enough to have me written out of "the intardnet history books" as an ICVD co-creator, heh.)
There's even a picture of you in it, Jorge. :) I hope you don't dispute its use, ha ha.

Yeah I've seen the Dramatica stuff.
It's all in good fun. I love a good roast, and it's somewhat of an honor to be roasted in ED (even though really anybody can just put up whatever they want).

Seriously, if you want to leave over some petty shit, don't make a post about it, just leave, I've never understood folks ambition to let everyone on the boards know that they won't be posting anymore, just do it and get it over and done with. Wow this kind of turned into an old memories thread. I don't think you guys really want to take too much of a trip down memory lane with me. Though I guess I could recall a couple of scarce good memories when a couple of few people talked to me online. I guess you could say I had a couple of pleasant conversations. I guess I did talk with Jorge a good deal at one point, in the end really I guess you could say we were never as close as I thought we were. I'll leave it at that......I would like to think though I remained friends with people like Il Palazzo and Tazz but have lost touch with them..... Though those days are long gone when I wanted to actually fit in here and have people like me. I have tried to be nice, I tried to be a jerk, and now it is just a matter of popping in this forum and out just randomly dropping lines in threads until forgetting again.
Though to some I was never nice. I guess you could say that no matter how many apologies I made and how many attempts I made to make amends just to at least say I tried, it just wasn't worth it for either party in the end. I was just getting frustrated and people had already made up their minds about me. Still have.....
Oh and in case you guys were wondering I originally came here years ago because yes, I do love the Castlevania series. My original intent was to share that with others. It even got exciting when I got to participate in ideas people had, projects, random humorous chats, etc. You know it was actually cool to even see people trying to include me. I guess I can't fault them for the efforts. The efforts aren't forgotten. I still appreciate it. I did feel I had a lot to offer. But I trolled that all away long ago. God 1999 or 1998 seems like ages ago. But I could say that when I first came I didn't say "You know I think I'll build a legacy of annoyance here, fight with people, get them to hate and be so disgusted with me that they will be cruel and unforgiving, play games, fail at friendships, etc." No.....I didn't but it happened. We can't take that back now. I don't think we'll ever move on. We'll just deal with whatever we have to work with at the scarce times I'm here.
I guess you could say my take on the forums is kind of like life. They are what you make of them. You make the experiences great or you taint them. In the end, what you hope to gain from these forums is really up to you and how much you want to put into an Internet Forum. They are only shit for you if you make your experiences there shitty ones without trying to change things for the better. To make yourself happy with what you're given.
I really hope someone reads this though I could see tl;dr, nobody cares, meh being the thought process when even seeing a post from me like this. That's understandable. Though this is probably the first time I've actually spoken from the heart.
I'm glad I am still here so I could at least say my piece. Hopefully, I will never have to again.....It is just easier for everyone for me not to talk about this any more. Many memories for me about my past dealings with people around here were not positive. Its just a bunch of old wounds. I wish I could say I was a part of this "dungeon family" but I have always been just a blight as far as these communities are concerned. I can admittedly say other than the project with Jorge, I have probably not once ever contributed anything positive to these forums ever. Hence why I am loathed. If I could have it be different would I? Maybe. But we can't go back any more and the damage can never be repaired at this point.

You realize this is the Dungeon and not ICVD, right? Pretty much Jorge and I are the only members of the old crew hanging around here; most aren't really gonna know what the hell you're talking about.
I mean, I don't know what your interactions with people of this board have been, but far as I know, you don't have a negative history with the current regulars of this board. So, there's really nothing to worry about.

I suppose I could make a fresh start by actually listening to other people's views and opinions before shooting them down. Ex. If someone has an interest in Pokemon or Parappa the Rappa to refrain from being harsh. Too many times has someone wanted to talk about Nintendo with me on AIM, only to have me bash Nintendo continually working them up into a tirade. I guess if I have nothing nice to say I won't say it. That applies to talking badly of a person and an interest someone may have. Also I'll stop making blanket statements and start treating people as individuals instead of lumping them together. Maybe talk less about me and ask more about someone else. I'll also try to be less redundant and more interesting if possible. I'll also try to be less defensive and sensitive but at the same time maybe try to be sensitive to other people when necessary. Also when someone shows me a midi file, a graphic, or something else I'll try not to shift the focus to me and actually work on giving the person the feedback they deserve so they can learn from me instead of getting nothing tangible.
I think if by some chance someone from this place ever has an interest in talking to me on AIM or off this forum, I need to learn how to be a better friend. Perhaps being a better friend online could help me to become a better person offline.
