Like the topic says... as far as I know it was NEVER finished. But as a fellow programmer/hacker I would be interested in checking it out.
The video I saw says it's somewhere on the dungeon but I canNOT seem to find it. Can ya'll hook me up?

This one?
http://www.inverteddungeon.com/jorgefuentes/images3/CVC-DraculasCurse-2005-09-09.zip
And talking about this, is Jorge gonna release the source? I recall him saying he might relaese the code for it.
-
Hmm, is there any way to change the buttons? And do you know why the creator abandoned this project? It looked REALLY good, even the skull knights original sprites are gorgeous.
-
Jorge's programmer disappeared. The game's currently being recoded by quasar, but it'll take some time.
You can't change the buttons, but you can map them to a gamepad if you have one with JoytoKey.
-
I would rather not have my homebrew dissected apart, but I believe I did release the code to potential programmers for it.
Pretty much, if someone asked for it, I'd give it to 'em to see if they can continue to use it or build upon it.
Programmers tend to hate the previous programmer's coding style (either that or they hate that the previous programmer didn't DOCUMENT HIS/HER CODE!).

Whatever happened anyways... your coder just jumped ship? And n if you weren't coding it, what exactly were you doing to it?
P.S. Real nice work you got here by the way... very impressive.

Jorge did all the backgrounds and sprites he's a bad ass spriter;)
plus he did the music he's very good at making them too:)
so i think it'd be save to say he did everything but the programing:P
Jorge's the man;)
-
It sucks ass if you miss just one piece of the puzzle, I know how that feels. But is was a marvelous homebrew indeed.

The music was fantastic... and the skull knight and stage layout/background gfx looked beautiful. And that sucks that out of all the people in the castlevania community NO ONE with programming skill will help you finish this. :(

i wish i had programming skills funny is that i actually HAD programming classes in college but baddy hangover didn't let me absorb anything more than basic commands...also the language differences only adds difficulty. :P
-
i have learned.. some, I doubt I'll be able to do anything to actually affect the homebrew in a good way but I'd like to see it and maybe I could learn some more.
-
Erm, what buttons actually start the game up?
-
use, delete and end and they are also buttons for jump and attack.

Jorge's also the voice of Trevor =P
As soon as I get some sort of note of an update, I gotta get the voice samples for Sypha done. But we haven't even heard from Quasar lately.

Anyone know if its safe to download? Like it doesn't have any viruses or anything like that right?
-
Nothing wrong with it, I just downloaded it today. I just had to know how to actually play it, lmao.
-
Ok thanx. I'll check it out.
-
Hey I'm having trouble downloading it. When I clicked open, it came up with all these files. How do I actually download and get to the game?
-
I saved it to my PC, to a new folder ( I dubbed it Castlevania 3 homebrew). I had to unzip it via winzip before I could get to the application though. (One with say Castlevania application, that's the one you play.)
-
Ok but whats winzip and does it cost any money or anything?
-
It's a program to compress/decompress archives or files. Yes, it costs money, though I think you can use it after its trial period expires too.
Here's a free alternative:
http://www.7-zip.org
It can open not only zips, but also rars, arj, 7z and other file formats.
-
so this link your giving me is completely free?
-
Yes. It's open source, open source almost always is free.
-
Great! Thanks a lot! I was just making sure before I download anything because if I get any viruses or get charged anything my dad would be mad.

There are no viruses. I hope you're downloading it from my inverteddungeon.com link. Should be this:
***Clicky*** (http://inverteddungeon.com/jorgefuentes/images3/CVC-DraculasCurse-2005-09-09.zip)
***Here's a RAR version... don't remember if this is too different from the ZIP version though (http://inverteddungeon.com/jorgefuentes/images3/cv3/CVC-DraculasCurse.rar)
You can scan the .zip (or .rar) file with a virus scanner before opening it, if you're paranoid. You can also scan the .exe file online by using Trend Micro's HouseCall online software.
http://www.trend.com <--- look for "Home & Home Office" then look for Housecall.
-
Don't worry, I'm not that paranoid, I'm just making sure, lol, and I am using the inverted dungeon .zip file. But I'm having trouble actually getting to the game. I downloaded the 7-zip link that Serio posted but can you tell me how to use that to get to the actually game? Sorry if I'm causing you guys a lot of trouble, I just don't know that much about computers.
-
Run the gui version of 7zip (the one that shows you its menu, it should be in start>programs>7-zip>7-zip file manager) and press options, then on the system tab press [select all] button, then ok.
Once you do that right click the zip file and select 7-zip => extract or just doubleclick it, select all and press the extract button (looks like a big blue minus). It should then ask you where to unpack, unpack wherever you want (for example on the desktop into a cv3c folder and you're done.

Wow, I finally got it to work. Thanks a lot for helping me out. I really appreciate it. This is a really great game!
