Title: Fighting Game Strategies
Post by: son_the_vampire on April 15, 2013, 06:10:30 AM
Here is the thread where people share what they have developed whilst playing fighting games! Real simple, i want to be able to see other peoples techniques for beating bosses, starting combos, infinites(my favorite  ;D), juggling and whatever other tactics being used in this genre. I myself usually stick with 2-D but I've dabbled in the 3-D realm...(TEKKEN & SC and of course Judgement). I recently purchased my first game capture hardware so i finally get to show off the moves. I wanted to keep it exclusive to the Dungeon and i know there are places like Gamefaqs but ill stick with my CV Fam!!!

Let me begin:
CV Judgement is my first choice but remember any fighter will work
I'll now share one of the easiest infinites for that game.....
Ingredients: 1 Alucard, 1 Holy Water (must be a double or triple shot)
Requirements: No walls, and haven,t tested on Drac so i dunno if it'll work

Simply use AL's 3-hit standing combo... toss a Holy Water and repeat. When your opponent begins moving backwards, you need to fill in the space or they'll fall out of the infinite(it's possible to turn them away from walls mid combo) A nice finishing touch is  make them "Burn Away" as they are being hit by holy water.
This tactic is time and tested and I assure you its as easy as it sounds... The hardest part of course is to get a Stacked Holy Water. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GUYS!

Cheap tech for every 2D fighting game: jump kick and then down kick, it works in almost all AI and players.

Back opponent into wall and mash buttons. Works 90% of the time within my circle of buddies. Unfortunately for the douche that does that, he sucks at dodging fireballs.

that strategy sounds simple but i have a few games where that isnt the case Lely (KoF Ultimate match, CvS2, Blaz Blue to name a few) but it does in games like ssf2. Now as for button mashers, i there are a bunch of situational things to combat that "stuck in the corner ass rape". I usually let them start their moves and if they are mashing a particular combo block the whole thing and use your characters quick punch, only once... they'll be pissed and almost every person i've ever played with backs off. Now the roles are reversed because they are on the defensive :D im not gonna lie, people who are constantly jumping usually are the ones who beat me :-\

it´s simple. DON´T GET HIT BY ANYWAY :P. Jokes apart

first i learn the pattern of attacks of the player or AI then i simply retaliate them when they leave open

Holy pill's  no one could hold the power of the button mashers.  :-\

In Street Fighter 4: Mash crouch as fast as your hand allows.

Use evasion and dodge until your opponent gets angry (works almost all the time with human players) then it gets easier because he starts doing mistakes. If you do atleast 3 hits first then you can guarantee your victory when the time runs out.

Well for human players who have an understanding, evasions, side steps and rolls all get very long recovery frames. This is common within most 2-d games. So a way to beat that would be to step towards the persons rolling direction, thus enabling u a first strike. This needs to be done while the opponent is in their rolling animation. The best dodging in fighting games would be soul calibur's 8-way directional system. You can look very fancy dancing around someone and not blocking once  ;D

That dont work with me, simply because I evades when someone attack, rarely I do this first (people tend to user strong attacks instead of faster ones). This works with more or less 75% of players.

Either learn to dodge and memorize the combo strings or be an ass and button smash your way to victory.
