I proposed this a few times to Jorge (and probably other people as well) but I was wondering what you guys would think of a reintroduction of a forum chat. The Anti-Chapel had one that was very easily accessible and you didn't have to connenct to a server or anything like that. If a chat like that would implemented, it would perhaps be more active than last time since people don't have to figure out how to get there. I know it probably took only a few minutes to figure out but we internet surfers have very short attentions spans.
I know that one could have a few issues with this. For example, the chat could drain forum activity. Though, the chat seemed to add to the Chapel forum very nicely and it might be an even better way to get "noob" talk out of our systems than that special sub-board (though I think that is a very good idea too). Somebody would also have to moderate the place but we have several mods who do nothing and just lurk the forum so perhaps they could it? Otherwise a trusted member could be appointed to do it perhaps?
Thoughts?

If it could be implemented, go for it. Instant messaging is great fun.
Only that the forum is fucking dead, so...

This forum is dead? It might have been before MoF and LoS2 got announced but not anymore. :-\

I think it died slightly, yet business will boom when we get new information on MoF. How much people did we have during those weeks on E3? More than I have ever seen.

That sounds cool. I think that it will make this place more lively.

Well we were trying to not let anyone know that all of us posting are undead zombies, vampires and werewolves. Way to go Freddy. >:(
:P
Also while we're on the subject- don't know how much I'd participate myself but I don't see how having an official, easily accessible chat (irc?) could hurt the forum.

I was never really big on the chat room thing. Ill spend about 5 minutes in there just to see what people are talking about...and thats only if im out of beer and hookers...what? Like Ratty said, it couldn't hurt.

Some (as in all) of us mods have personal lives, we can't moderate the forums 24/7. ;)
As for a chatroom, over at Atari Age it's always the same 1-2 people in it and they say absolutely squat, so really there's not much of a point if the chats dead and never sees new faces.
-
I understand, Reign-kun. :)
I think we'll see plenty of new faces when the forum lives up again with more MoF and LoS2 news.
-
Why not just an IRC? I think that'd be cool. Or maybe that's too arcane for these days...? I don't like on-page chatboxes though.

What's wrong with on-page chatboxes? :-\

We had IRC. It ran all the way up to last year, actually.
Then the server closed and so the IRC died.
Towards the end, it was just three evergreen people always logged in and yet never saying anything.

I was banned from the irc chat for being a butthead :o
However I like Nagumo's idea, and perhaps she can "moderate" it. I nominate her fo sho :)

As per the old IRC, we would need a daytime moderator and a night-time one.
I'm also not sure if a shoutbox/chat would work on mobile systems, so that's something to check, as I often browse the board from a mobile device.
-
I wouldn't mind doing one of the shifts.

I'm not really well known here, but if a level head is ever needed for modding, I'm not busy.
