Is Ryukotsuki related to The Forgotten One?

Just a thought... although I haven't played it, I watched a video of the forgotten one boss from Lament of Innocence and I noticed many similarities... red under the ribs you have to attack, arms that attack you, head that breathes fire. I've also been thinking about how the final boss of Getsu Fuma Den is referred to as The Dragon. And how Dracula means the son of the dragon... not to mention Gabriel referring to himself as the dragon after acquiring the forgotten one's powers.

There are so many similarities between Getsu Fuma Den and Castlevania and since it was included in Harmony of Despair I think it might actually be considered canon. I don't think it was a coincidence that The Forgotten One was made an optional secret boss in Lament of Innocence and a DLC boss in Lords of Shadow... and Getsu Fuma Den was DLC in Harmony of Despair....... interestingggg.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? In the enemy data for Harmony of Despair, Ryukotsuki is described as "A fiend who hails from the deepest pits of hell."

Some inspiration taken, maybe. But no relation, the games are in separate universes.

I'd love getsu Fuma to be part of the Castlevania canon and I'd love a new Getsu Fuma.

Everything comes full circle

This! Or maybe a reboot with more CV-like attributes. I always liked the idea of a Japanese-inspired CV. As it is, even though the gameplay and exploration is far from CV as possible. the concept could fit in within the CV universe.

At this point, a Getsu Fuma reboot isn't exactly on everyone's priority list. It's a NES classic, but it hasn't seen any other incarnations since, aside from occasional homages paid in different games.
It seemed all but forgotten until Harmony of Despair revived it; and I don't think that would be enough to warrant a reboot. We can always hope, though. I, for one, wouldn't mind at all, especially if it is to be more CV-centric.

I think Getsu Fuma and Castlevania could be in the same universe, they just take place in different countries.

Getsu Fuma - Japan - East

Castlevania - Romania - West

Both are done by Konami so it's not that much of a stretch.

Hmm interesting point, even in Harmony of Despair, there is a mention of GDF in a music track listing. I wouldn't doubt the dev team was inspired by the classic game. There is no doubt more classic enemies or heroes could be part of the series as guest stars. (or related to anything in general)

This. Also, Fuma could have been an ancestor of the Hakuba Shrine priests.

I'm glad people are really taking this to heart :) I'm just kind of surprised this game doesn't appear on CastleVania fan sites (including the CastleVania dungeon). I really don't think it's a stretch at all! Especially when Kid Dracula is included!
