Ohhh thanks for the reminder, I'd been meaning to check out Polidori after my Frankenstein kick.

I think the Phantom could be a good boss, heh.

Since you already have Death why not the other 3 of the four horseman of the Apocalypse?

Remember my name and know this. I have Suffolk Down Syndrome.

Stop me if you've heard this one.
A Belmont falls through a trap door into a square prison with no exits. After hitting three sides he smashes through the last one. Relieved and low on health he looks at the camera, smiles and says......"Pork chop?"
ULTIMATE FOURTH WALL BREAK!!! That just happened!!!

I suggested this very idea over a year ago. It would be an awesome Gauntlet to conquer. Kinda like the three fiends (Slogra, Gaibon and Death) who showed up in SCV IV.

Nice analogy uzo! I never thought about it in that context. So I guess in a sense you do fight the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in SCV4.

Maybe it's because I'm on a Stephen King kick lately, but if they ever do another Sorrow game (ie post Demon Castle War) I'd like to see some villain who's a nod to The Stand/Dark Tower antagonist Randall Flagg. He's a truly evil bastard and an ancient sorcerer/demon kinda guy like Dracula. The idea of a Dracula worshiping cult was severely underplayed, and Flagg has that freaky kind of insane, charismatic cult-leader mentality written all over him. They're a CULT, dammit. They should be absolutely psychotic and murderous, but noooo, all DoS had was a half-baked pyromaniac and a shifty Russian with an atrocious sense of fashion.

Other trivia: OoE's Barlowe was likely named for the evil vampire in King's novel Salem's Lot. And the little toothy dudes spawned by Menace in DoS are modeled after the titular time-devouring monsters in another King novel/movie, The Langoliers.

Oh wow, that's very interesting. I just saw the movie a few days ago, and it's rather interesting to see the connection there.

The Langoliers? Was a Steven King Novel/Movie?? This I did not know. And now that i think about it, those things in DoS DO look like them too. I guess they got bored of eating left-over time and decided that our world was the main course.

Yes, Stephen King nods are excellent. I liked the usage of the name Barlowe, heh. And a good charismatic cult-leader would be pretty sweet. A really shape-changey boss like the thing from IT would also be interesting, I think. But we have had a lot of those 'tricky' kind of things, from the doppelganger to Paranoia...conversation with the doppelganger could be chilling if done well.

Castlevania did have something like this. More specifically; CV: HoD. The first time you fight Maxim's evil self. He changes shape three times before being defeated. His forms were a Black panther, A sword and a moth.

Hell yeah! A whole Mythos based CV gaiden would rock my balls.
I've actually thought of an idea similar to CV that deals with Lovecraftian mythos. My little story was called "Grimsdyke", and it takes place somewhere in British isle, in a rather large castle-like mansion that sits atop a hill, on ancient lands soaked in dark dealings. The owner of the mansion(Dracula-like fellow) is abducting people from the nearby village as to sacrifice in a dark ritual to call forth the Elder Gods and bestow a new age of darkness. Among them is the main hero's betrothed, so gives chase and enters the dark mansion with an sword(family heirloom) and pistol(enchanted) in hand, slicing and blasting his way through various lurking fears and crawling terrors. My idea, it was set in the late 1800s(you know how I feel about that time, and how I've been WANTING a new HD CV game that dealt with that era).

Now, back on topic, for what I'd love to see, considering the CV series has always been a loveletter to horror pop culture, I'd love to see some more recent horror figures appear. Leatherface already appeared in OoE, and we had nods to the Puppet Master movies with the Puppet Master boss. Maybe do a Cenobite-type monster(bondage heavy, with nails and portruding from flesh wounds, though not overtly Pinhead or any other Cenobite in any of the Hellraiser movies). Call it a Hellion or Pain Jockey(though, I prefer Hellion).

And with Ruthven, I've mentioned that there are so many real-accused vampires that could be included in the same vein as Dracula, Elizabeth Bartley(Bathory) and Gile de Rais. Clara Geisslerin, Arnold Paole, Fritz Haarman, Peter Plogojowitz, and John George Haigh. Of course, even Bram Stoker's other vampiric creation, the Countess Dolingen of Gratz.

I also thumbs up the Randall Flagg bit. Even if that name is too obvious, Randall Flagg has many different aliases that could be used.

I'd love to see a Silent Hill monster make some sort of cameo, actually. Pyramid Head and the Nurses are too obvious, but maybe something else?
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

You forgot about Count Graf Orlok. While Olrox was based off him, to me it's just not the same. We need the REAL Orlok in CV this time around.
