The poll speaks for itself.

I think Lords is an excellent opportunity for Sonia to be interjected into a Castlevania canon. Just hopefully not with a ruddy awful slash fanfiction plotline this time, please?
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

My gut tells me that they are not even going to consider Sonia as a playable or even side character, we'd sooner see reimagined Sypha or perhaps Carrie. prunyuu~

Carrie would be a decent addition too, I'll admit.

Wasn't the whole Alucard knocking up Sonia thing really just a near-baseless speculation that IGA accidentally "confirmed"?
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

If Iga did anything, he flatly denied it.
Legends cast some pretty heavy insinuation that Al gave Sonia a "piledriver at her construction site", leading to Trevor.
Which was awful. I'd like to see her more tastefully reinvented.

Define "appear."  If you mean, "Will the name Sonia be thrown on some generic character who has nothing to do with the original Sonia just to give the game an appearance of Castlevania legitimacy," then yes, I think there's a high probability.

In a supporting or leading role. That's what I meant, anyway.

Shit, I'm in favor of her being completely different from the source material.

Newsflash: the source material SUCKED.

This is iffy when LoS is concerned. I'd very much like to see Sonia get proper treatment i.e. star as a main character in her own CV game that is canon. But I don't think it's going to happen with this alternate timeline. Having her name mentioned might just be possible however I'm not holding my breath.

As a main or side character I doubt it, though as a name drop in some lore, it' definitely possible. All depends what they do with the Belmont family from here on.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

It's not that she's the most deep and important character of the older series so... I don't see the point of her being included.
Make her being the wife of a Belmont with a prominent role that would be great.

Everything comes full circle

We don't even know if the game will have Belmonts, so it's a bit early to say.

But it'd be cool.

Its implied in the game, that Sonia and Alucard were in romantic realtionship, even before Dracula started his first attack on humanity. In the true / complete ending of the game, Sonia holds baby on her hands. For whatever reason some people think that this baby is the Trevor Belmont.
Nothing was stated directly about this by Konami.

As for the topic in question - why not?
