He's not worried about it in the slightest.
What he is worried about is of very little consequence to Konami.
Fact is the guy is talented and I love his work, but objectively speaking as someone who saw his attitude before he got banned he became a egomaniac which was sad to see as a fan of his.
The thing is whether he is worried about it or not does not change the fact that asking for money for a modified version of a established IP is VERY risky and he has a very high chance of getting his project shut down, he reasoning behind it is that he has put so much time and money in it himself that he feels its only right that he get some help from his fans when really Konami isn't going to care less about that since they themselves did not ask him to put his money and time into their IP to turn around and get money for it later. As a actual fan of the project I would love to see it finally make its way to the fans but given his previous attitude and reluctance to even give a estimated release date or at the very least a small demo to his fan AND him asking for money leads me to believe that he will either a.Just choose to never release it for "whatever" reason or b.Konami sends him a cease and desist because he is asking for money although fingers crossed I'm hoping we get option c.which is sometime before we die of old age we get to play this game or at the very lease a demo lol.
EDIT
A good recent example of Ego over logic when it comes to this kind of thing is Soulja Boy who recently released a video game console which featured a emulator with 1000s of games from different publishers and sold it for a profit and claimed he would never get in any trouble because what he was doing for legit, even had the nerve to talk smack to Nintendo directly and say they would do nothing, recently its come out that Nintendo DID do something andhe immediately pulled all his consoles down and had to give a refund to people who hadn't gotten their yet lol, hopefully the same doesn't happen here but when you get money involved with established and owned IPs than there is obviously always that high chance and to ignore it would be foolish.
