By far the 2 best castlevania games period in my opinion,

But If I had to choose between the 2, I would go with symphony because of the vast amount of stuff you could do in the game in comparison to Super Castlevania 4 which was a classivania.

I loved being able to collect items and level up my character.

Also the exploration was a plus for me as a avid Metroid fan myself.

Another thing is the replay value that Symphony definitely tops it in.

I can't choose. They both rank high on my personal choice. Super Castlevania IV is the epitome of classicvania while SotN is the first and still is the epitome of the Metroidvanias. All the other games do have their charm but these two...i can't choose between them.

Me too. That game is really good to me. No armor + Hard Mode run is bliss.
I'm currently writing an article about Maxim Kischine and that game's nebulous story!

But! if I had to choose between the two games in question... uhh... Symphony, because it has way more depth and I like the aesthetic presentation of it more. IV is really heavy, though. The waterfall stage is one of the best, most powerful and affecting moments in the series to me. It's one of those times when everything comes together perfectly.

Castlevania 4 without a doubt. Sometimes I play just the first half after a long, frustrating day, and it just relaxes me. Symphony is a great game, but I just love the atmosphere, music, and visuals of 4 more. I also prefer the stage-by-stage setup, since it tends to lead to more interesting stage design.
