Digital and streamed games are fine. More than fine. They're convenient and endlessly portable. It's nice to just pop my PSP Go in my pocket and know that I have a damn fine selection of my favorite games in this tiny package, which saves room in my bag for other things that isn't being taken up by disks or cartridges.
But there's something to be said for physical media. I like HOLDING a game before I pop it in. It's a tangible connection to the experience, one that has only diminished with time. The Game Boy and classic consoles had the right of it with cartridges. They had heft, and there is no better prelude to a massive gaming session than hearing and feeling that satisfying "click" as the cartridge goes in the system. Furthermore, if the cloud or wi-fi goes down, I like knowing I have physical games that DON'T require a constant internet connection to play.
So I hope this will be an
option as well. I don't want it to be the only option though.
