Castlevania: Ballad of Darkness V.1.0.0 By Patheticmw How to Play: Arrow keys = Move & Crouch Z = Jump X = Whip C = Subweapon V = Subweapon Crash Mouse = Map cursor (can be moved offscreen during levels) Esc = Close the game HUD Overview: Map HUD- The red "X" on the map indicates the next stage. Highlighting this with your mouse will make it turn yellow to indicate you are clicking in the right place. A black "X" on the map indicates a stage that has already been completed. A stage can be revisited by clicking on the black "X". Revisiting a stage can allow you to acquire additional health upgrades and carry a different subweapon with you upon exiting the stage. However, revisiting a stage will set your game completion back to the point of completing the stage you revisit. This is done to make late game health upgrade farming more difficult, and also to promote more endgame replay value. Keep in mind that revisiting a stage will only reset your completion status if you save the game, so feel free to replay any stage you want and then reload your game to keep your completion status. The "Save" and "Load" buttons do precisely as they are labelled. Clicking the respective button will save your current game, or load your current save file. Saving can only be done on the map screen and there is no way to return to the map screen after entering a stage except by completing it, so it is recommended to save after completing each stage. Clicking a yellow area will shift your screen to see another portion of the map. In Stage HUD- The red number under the "RICHTER" text in the upper-left corner of the screen represents the player's health. When this number reaches or falls below zero, the player will respawn at the beginning of the stage or boss fight or the last checkpoint door reached. The green bar underneath the player's health indicates the player's mana. Having a full green bar means the player has full mana. Using subweapons or subweapon crashes will reduce the player's mana by a certain amount. Taking damage from certain enemies may "curse" the player, reducing their mana to zero. Mana restores at a rate of approximately 3 mana per every 2 seconds. Mana can also be restored by collecting hearts or big hearts from candles or enemy drops. The box in the center of the top of your screen is the subweapon box. This indicates which subweapon the player currently has. After using a subweapon, it will temporarily disappear from the box, meaning it is unavailable to use again until it reappears. This time varies by subweapon, but is never longer than a few seconds. When in a boss fight, there are two new things that appear on your HUD. In the bottom center of your screen, the boss name will be displayed. In the upper right corner of the screen is the boss health. When this drops to zero, the boss is defeated. Subweapons: Each subweapon has a different functions and cost.
