Quick question about The Castlevania Adventure on Gameboy

Heya all. While looking around for this game, I ran across 2 versions, 1 done in 1989 and the other done in 1991. Both look identical and I can't find anything online about them. I'm not sure why there were 2 versions released. Does anyone know anything about this?

You probably mistook the latter for Belmont's Revenge.

If you can, find the Gameboy Color edition for color enhanced graphics.

Are they both just Castlevania Adventure? Konami did a multipack for many of its games.

Nope they are both The Castlevania Adventure, each with their own release date.

Are they both just Castlevania Adventure? Konami did a multipack for many of its games.

That's problaby why.

Maybe they re-released the title after Konami became a lot bigger then they were before which is why the 'Industries Ltd' is no-longer on the title screen.

Just for shiggles, I checked the roms and oddly enough both identify as being the (U) version, and there are still 2 separate (E) versions of '89 and '91. Maybe whoever dumped the roms and uploaded them didn't realize they already had a pal version. When did Konami release the GB compilation pack with TCA on it? That very well could be why there's a '91 version.

Im curious about that now, did you find another difference in-game? Maybe they rebalanced something, like speed, damage, time, hearts, points, sound, etc?

To be honest I could only force myself through one TCA play-through, and that was on the '91 version. From a quick, 5-minute run through the older version, I didn't notice anything, but again I could only stomach about 5 minutes of it. If it wasn't for stage 1 having a catchy tune, I doubt I woulda lasted as long as I did.

Well, thanks anyway, I know that not everyone can endure for a long time old games, I have a friend that doesnt even play the games if they have graphics from the 8bit era, even if the game is good and he already knows that the game is good, he simply cant play it.
Not saying that this is your case, Im only sharing this example.

That reminds me of some people who REFUSE to watch a movie solely based on it being black-and-white.

But you pretty much guessed that I can't play through TCA so soon due to its glaring flaws, sluggish controls, and stiff jumping. I finished Belmont's Revenge and got about halfway through Legends, so the game-boy graphics don't bother me and I have to say the other 2 game-boy CV games rock.

Yeah, its like Megaman 1 for NES, I love Megaman but in this game he falls like a rock (Maybe thats why he's called Rockman) and walks slippery, like if he is walking in ice. I can endure it all the time, but only because I play even the worst kind of games. :p
