does any1 have any info on the contents contained within this book, who made it, etc.? i don't think it's officially licensed & the text is all in French, but it appears to be a retrospective study on the series

Castlevania: Le Manuscrit Maudit by Gianni Molinaro, published by Pix'n Love in 2014.

"Inexorable Fatality: Every hundred years, Dracula, the Lord of Darkness, comes out of his sleep to plunge the world into a dark new age. Every time, however, a courageous member of the Belmont family, the vampire's eternal antagonists, will stand up against the count to prevent him from accomplishing his evil designs. And as every hundred years, a magical object, the legendary whip nicknamed Vampire Killer, will resume service to eliminate the monstrosities of the night, until the final fight against the hereditary enemy, linked to a terrible curse. Born in 1986, the mythical series of Konami narrates, through more than thirty games, this thousand-year-old merciless struggle between good and evil. From its genesis to its scenario, not forgetting the gameplay evolutions, the first opus to Lords of Shadow, discover in this book the secrets of the great Castlevania saga."

The book tells about Castlevania's development history, gives summary on characters, speaks about side games such as the pachinkos and Kid Dracula, etc etc. There's some obscure information here and there in this book, but I'd guess that it would be nothing you have not seen before. The book has some few mistakes, the biggest being the timeline (that includes all non-canon games we know are not canon), but it's a well-done effort overall.

It has some different limited editions ("Dracula", "Alucard" and "Belmont"), and they come with some fancy stuff such as a DVD containing 45 minutes of some paranormal-investigation show where they explore Bran Castle.

The mastermind behind the "Umbra of Sorrow" project. But not the only one.
