Title: Games you hate for stupid or no particular reasons.
Post by: A vicar in a tutu on March 23, 2008, 11:34:03 PM
Just what the title says.
The forum has kinda been more active these days and I'm trying to keep it that way with new discussions.
Anyway a game that I hate is Kid Klown in Crazy Chase. Why?
Just because the story sounds so damn uncreative. Space Pirates and clowns. nice combo.
(https://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg399.imageshack.us%2Fimg399%2F7947%2Fpendejada1rr7.jpg&hash=fca883649fc16000a870678cd095fbd3)
I especially hate the intro. lol. It's just my opinion.

Just about every sports game and all the Cruis n' games. If I wanted to play sports I'd go outside and shot some basketballs or throw a football. The Only exception in TECMO SUPER BOWL!! (for the SNES, for me) and as for every Cruis n'game, well they're just S$#tty racing games. I don't know, they just piss me off

sports games, much the same reason. But I dolike playing Tennis games, they're fun. That and boxing games. but other than that.... I don't much like most sports games.

I concur about sports games, with the exception of NBA Jam. That was a fun as hell game!

I'd say Final Fantasy VII because I'm tired of hearing people say how OMG AMAZZZINGGG!!!11111 it is. Maybe it is, but I'm tired of hearing about the damn thing, so I won't play it.

The Halo series, everyone was saying it was the panacea of FPS, It felt like any average FPS game out there.

That and the Smash Bros. Series, It has the worst controls for moving your character, I mean, you HAVE to use the analog stick!? and then sometimes the character runs instead of walk for no reason? Why didn't they use the traditional D-Pad method of hold to walk and double tap to run? Stupid I know, since it's pretty much me and not the game's fault. At least I have sweet revenge on everyone beating the snot out of them in Street Fighter.

Whew! that felt good. I guess I needed to get that out of my system.

GTA San Andreas. It was just too popular when it came out. I never play games "because everyone is playing it". That is why I like underdog games a lot more.
Then, it's just my own way of life. I never do stuff "because everyone does it". I can't stand fashions and things like that. I do things my own way.

Harvest Moon Cute. I just saw an ad for it on IGN. It's apparently a "cute" version of Harvest Moon. ...what? It's not like HM was a series known for its gritty realism. It's always been cute!

I never played San Andreas either. Its not because of the hype, but its because of the disappointment of the previous, which were fun but becomes utterly boring after a while.

I hear Andreas improves on it, but I don't think it does ... not much anyway.

Honestly, I don't get a big rubbery one over RPGs. I've watched my bro play it and it doesn't seem like the second coming of...whatever. The fact that everyone on GameFAQS pops a boner whenever someone mentions it like "OMGZORZ!!1!! Tehre  IZ NUttin az gud az FFVII ROXXORZ!!111" just turns me off to it even more. Like someone else said, it's a stupid reason, but that's what the topic is.

Thirded.

Though I didn't hate it, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is the closest that comes to mind. I don't like 50's(ish)-era stuff, and I don't care much for dinosaurs. But it's highly regarded, so I had to play. Kind of ho-hum for me.

Also, I used to hate hearing about Tom Clancy games, since his name is always on them. But that changed when a co-worker gave me Rainbow Six Vegas to borrow. Incredible game. I also bought Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon for $6 each before that, just to see what the fuss is all about, but I haven't gotten around to playing either one yet.

I'm the same way, I love friday the 13th and a nightmare on elm street on my old nes but people bitch about these games right and left. I find them emmensly entertaining and they seem to even capture some of the feel of the movies. Sure they're tough and beating them's a bitch but that's life. If all games were like cabbage patch kids on the colecovision where you just walk from one screen to another with no enemies or anything life would be very boring.

Yeah I love that game I can remember back in the 80's when I first got it I used to spend hours just running around looking for Jason. Then when he pops out it's like BAM!!! and you jump fifty feet.

Anything relating to the XBox. I've played Halo and all that, and I liked it, but for some reason I just can't stand anything about it. I don't know if it's a shadow of the old Sony-and-Nintendo fanboy welling up in me or not. D:

I never could find much to play on the old box' either. I think it had more to do with microsoft trying to make the first one too much like a portable computer and not having a variety of genre's to pick from like the cube (at first) and ps2 had. I mean for me fps's since the original doom trilogy for the most part jus haven't been the same. The old ones were about exploration and looking for pass keys or other items to get through the game along with shooting enemies right and left who were trying to stop you. With Halo for example the puzzle aspect is totally absent it's just mindless killing, which wears on me after awhile. Call of Duty is the same thing. I liked prey for awhile but it got too repetitive, and every level looked the same.

^ The new box has some really great titles though. I still need to play call of the juarez. Deadrising was fantastic, it's like GTA in a mall with zombies. The first condemned was great, still need to play 2. Devil may cry 4 is awesome. I'm impressed with 360's games for the most part minus prey and Halo 3. Can't wait for ninja gaiden II for the 360, that's gonna be awesome and one of the few games I'll throw down  fifty bones for.

Yeah ahnold's titles were really a let down when it came to their nes conversions. I remember popping in T2 for the nes back in the day thinkin' it was gonna be great, goin around killing everything as an indestructible terminator, y'know like the Robocop game (which is one of my favs), but man did it suck, I couldn't even play it past the first level it sucked so bad. I took it out and it sat in my dad's car until he returned it to 2 day video that sunday.

The funny part is that I read this as "Contra NES"

Funnier still...I could understand it either way, haha!

not deadrising or lost planet which are phenomenal games. Not trying to bash the ps3 or anything I like it too, I like the box2 and ps3 equally as they both have good titles right now. Ninja Gaiden II which is only gonna be for the box2 looks fantastic though.

You mean Windwaker and phantomhourglass? Yeah those look kiddish, but WW is confusing as hell. I can't imagine any kid having the patience to finish that one. PH I havent' had a chance to try yet but I plan to soon. Hopefully it doesn't suck like WW. All that sailing around looking for islands got old real quick.

I think he means all the Zelda games.

The old ones def. aren't kiddish, maybe in looks but they're crazy hard. Takes real patience and persistence to finish them. Adventure of Link especially took me 5 years to beat that one for the first time. And that's with an infinite lives cheat. I didn't beat it w/out it until 1997.

Ocarina of Time.

Hate is a bit harsh...
Oh don't get me wrong, the gameplay engine was pure genius, but the overall design was deeply disappointing.  I was expecting a level of polish and detail that wasn't achieved until Twilight Princess...  When it was all over I just didn't feel like it was time well spent.

I honestly hate Final Fantasy VII. Actually, I don't hate the game, but I hate the reputation of being "The Ultimate Final Fantasy" that it has acquired for no real reason other than being in 3D and having awesome character designs. I play it a fair amount, but the lack of "oomph" that the game has makes me feel as if it's reputation is undeserved.

As for a game I honestly hate with every fiber of my being, "Broken Sword: the Shadow of the Templars" takes my vote. WORST GAME OF ALL TIME.

Yeah adventure of link is a 2d sidescroller (for the majority of the game) that uses the lives system like other popular titles of the time. (though gaining 1ups is really hard)

Modern-day Zelda games. Generally, everything from Ocarina of Time and onward JUST because I generally HATE the art style. I loved it when it was simple. Link originally look simple, in green. Zelda looked like your classic princess. THe world looked like you simple medieval fantasy world. Then, with OoT and onward, the look gets an overhaul. Some conehead decides to make the Zelda universe look like the Tiki Hut from Disneyland. Everythings a cross between Tikiheads and Totem Poles. WTF? And you got more bizarre Polynesian looking things. You got all these characters with Native American-looking clothing and tribal paint and more strange named characters and creatures that seem to be based off random Hawaiian words. I liked Peahats, and Octoroks, not Ukalakatikitaka, or, what ever the hell some of those things are called now.

But yeah, I kinda biased when it comes to games with tropical inspired locations. For instance, nother massive change in world look. I loved Chrono Trigger. With Toriyama as art designer, it was simple(like old Link and old Zelda). Then, some joker hired Nobuteru Yuuki as character designer for Chrono Cross. The characters looked like they came from a different world than CT's, and the overall theme is "tropical island". My whole beef against tropical islands is also why I turn away from Baten Kaitos and Star Tropics.

I hate basically ALL GTA because the characters look stupid. Which is basically the same reason why I hate Half-Life(urgh, STUPID looking characters).

Okay, what's next?

You have to use a game genie cheating addon, you plug it onto the end of the cart and pop both in, it will allow you to hack into the gamecode of any nes game via entering alphabetical codes when the game genie screen comes up. Comes in handy on some of the cheap games that don't give you unlimited continues or no one ups.

Yeah, I hate RPG's too, I mean the games of course, not the grenade launcher, but especially Final Fantasy. Idk, it's just not really fun because you dan't actually get to fight. The only turn-organized battles I've ever liked were the ones in the Paper Marip games. It was slightly more fair because you actually have to opportuniy to block/dodge your opponent's attack, rather than standing there like an idiot and getting your ass kicked.
