DoS Julius Mode is probably the best alt mode in any of the IGAvania games. It's the most complete, with its own story and alternate final boss. It's what all the other alt modes should have been.

I don't recall liking Julius mode in either. :p But I'm generally not a fan of the extra modes in these games.

DOS has some really good graphics and atmosphere but I find the level layouts mostly pretty boring. AOS is my favorite post-SOTN Metroidvania and I feel like Dawn took several steps backward and is the weakest of the DS trilogy.

AoS Castle & exploration>>>> DoS Castle & exploration

DoS Julius Mode >>>>> AoS Julius Mode

It’s neck and neck, but Julius Mode is worlds better in DoS (better than playing as Soma imho and takes out the touchscreen elements with the bosses)

AoS could’ve been better if it had a higher difficulty that was actually more challenging(hard mode is a joke) where as Julius Mode is that difficulty in DoS.

Therefore, DoS wins(narrowly) imo.

Unlike others I have no beef with Sonia Belmont. However, since I own the physical cartridge I have no reason to purchase this on the Switch. What they really need to do is release Castlevania Adventure Rebirth, since it’s locked on the Wii and I haven’t played that game in years

Progress update: The source solution to spiked ball collision bug had been found and the fix is underway.

Once everything is OK, the game will be 100% compatible, playable, finishable on modern OS. The only things left will be 1) stuff to get around DMCA in order to not get them eaten out the game quick and 2) Try to implement key reassign GUI (or more accurately, port the pre-existed key assign stuff from LC2 rework to LC1).

For 1 we will need every inch of help from every possible person in the world!!!

I shall organize the sound list very soon in the following days...

They’re putting Legends on Nintendo Switch Online.  I think this is the first Castlevania title up there.  Hopefully this will open the gates for more in the future like Castlevania 64 if we don’t get more collections.  Wonder if it will get a special version.

I'll probably get upset if they start releasing the same old games they've rereleased a dozen times on the service before doing more ones they haven't done before though.  Unless they have some really compelling special versions.

I agree, Neon was such a fun game. Definitely a lot better than DD4.
