The LAST thing the Castlevania series needs is yet another rebirth to the storyline.

If it's a spinoff, I do not like that concept.

Konami's E3 presentation goes live on Wednesday, so we'll know by then I guess.

It really wouldn't surprise me if it did end up a 'Vania, but I doubt that Konami would greenlight two next gen games in the franchise for development at the same time. They've typically remanded the whole bloody affair to cheaper development on handhelds thus far.

If it is real I have mixed feelings on it. I'd like to see new blood tackle the series, but I question if Kojima could capture anything approaching the 'feel' of Castlevania. It could be a great game in its own right, but if it doesn't feel right, it could run the risk of being a CINO (Castlevania In Name Only).
If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?

I would be nice if Lords of Shadow turned out to be a CV game, but like the rest of you, I'm remaining skeptical until there is offical word that confirms this.

It says it came from Gamepress so you are just repeating what was stated here already.

Any announcement has got to be better than Ubisoft's putrid conference.

You mean like taking out the main protaganists or changing the atmosphere to a future setting? Oh, wait. ::)

Touche, and it's a fair point, but what I was referring to was the 'feel' which despite the creative liberties the modern games have taken, has remained largely intact. What I'm really afraid of is that they'll make it a much more action-centric, and less atmospheric, game to appeal more to the mainstream.

Maybe it is time for some new blood to have a take at it.  I have no problem with IGA's games (love them actually) but they've been rather repetitive.

Rather excited to see if this is true or not.  I'm glad I bought a 360 now.

Trailer for Lords of Shadow for those who didn't see it last year.

If this truly is Lords of Shadow with a Castlevania re-naming, consider me extremely excited.

As long as Kojima working on it doesn't mean like 1000+ pages of exposition dialogue, I'm in. It's about time we had a quality 3D Castlevania, and with a guy with a whip, too!

Furthermore, since Kojima is working on it, maybe this also means the budget won't be a beer and a cheeseburger!

If Kojima is being put in charge of the Alucard game I will likely be very interested to see how much better than IGA he is at planning a 3D Castlevania game.

However, while Lords of Shadow looks badass on its own, it doesn't scream Castlevania to me. Despite the obvious similarities, I don't like the way it was reinvisioned into that style. Things like changing the whip into that irk me. It doesn't look like anything but a wild fan re-imagining that strays too far from the core feeling of the series.
