dunno, the fact that sara's spirit (or what's left of it after she fused herself with the whip to create vampire killer) refused to let them access the whip's power until they went through that silly battle spell thing could mean they dodged their duty as belmonts, which is why they can't return to it so easily

you're not going to let a traitor back into your group without making him prove himself first, will you?

Your right, it could.  But we don't know enough about how the whip works.  Maybe it's something that has to go father to son.  We know because they have the name Belmont that Julius is a direct descendant to Leon, going from father to son for almost 1000 years.  Maybe it works differently with a daughters family offshoot?  We know at least 3 generations of them fought monsters.

The room with the worm boss looks absolutely horrifying...

Man I hope you're joking. If it's any indication from the boss's size, you are going to be climbing up that tunnel shaft at high speed trying to avoid his claws. Why waste time detailing a room when you're just going to whiz past it anyway. Probably supposed be like a pit where the monster's been imprisoned. So prolly an old tower.

Just speculation though.

it's a metrovania you know. you'll be passing through it sooner or later after beating the enemy, which btw. is a crab not a worm. the other, red thing looks more like a worm or an insect of some kind.

Wtf?! Why is every games' protagonist a woman now a days?

Maybe people are getting tired of hearing the male side of the experience, but... it could well be fanservice. Then again could just be a move to get more girls to play Castlevania. There's various possibilities.

I wouldn't mind having a female Belmont, but it looks like, again, that's not going to happen. And don't give me shit about that the whip has to be passed from father to son. That just means the Belmonts are sexist -- and really that just doesn't make any sense. It's the bloodline that matters afterall.

and yet the morrises were rejected and had to use their own life force to power the whip up and be able to use it

maybe it's something on a spiritual level rather than genetics :o

Yeah, especially in the Castlevania series! I'm so tired of every damn CV having a female main character!
..oh wait...

Yeah but still doesn't have to do with gender.

It can go the other way, too. The Belades don't all have to be female.

Theres nothing wrong with Women protagonists. I only don't want them, if its just a woman to draw attention or something. Which ..... lara croft does.... ALOT.... >.>

Yeah, but she makes up for it by kicking ass. She's not just for the eyes, she has a great skill set and impressive acrobatics. And she's smart, too.

Yeah, but this new character seems to kind of be modest. She doesn't seem to be 'super-model warrior' nor the generic anime tween, either. So far.
