This is supposed to be the ruins of the castle where Dracula was defeated in his previous resurrection, but are there any games where the final ascent to his throne room starts from the left?

The resurrection previous to this one is supposed to be the one where Quincy Morris defeated Dracula, so no castle for us. Previous to this one it was Order of Ecclesia. There are no stairs there.

I can't remember any game where the stairs go right, but if we play the perspective game, ALL stairs can go either left or right :P

Not that I've ever seen. Unless of course you count angling the camera in LoD as you ascend to the tower top. However in Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge you do in fact come to Dracula's tower from the left side of the screen instead of the right. But you don't ascend as there are no stairs.

It's just supposed to signify the ruins of the previous Castle's incarnation.
Suffice to say the 2 heroes in this game did the most walking out of anyone in any CV. In one stage they traverse the what took Simon Belmont an entire game (if you go by CV1's mapping/ geography)

More than that, they cross all of Europe. They must have some sore feet after all that adventuring.

The perspective could simply be from the other side. ????

It's simple: The person holding the camera was shooting from a window in the clocktower. As for all the rest of the games, God knows where the camera crew was at.

Yes, this whole perspective thing has made me seriously think that Castlevania was always a movie, as suggested in the opening of, for example, Dracula's Curse.  ;D

Is there even a clock tower with which to shoot? I'd wager they stole one of the castle's hidden secrets (a chopper) and used that to film the aerial scenes.
