Title: Digital Download Sales
Post by: Abnormal Freak on June 18, 2013, 02:17:27 PM
Might as well make a mega-thread.

So following up on a few threads, including the one where Shadow of the Ninja is free to play FOREVER on Steam, you now can get Torchlight free for the next couple days on GOG.com in addition to them having a 50% off summer sale and more announcements to come (big savings and possibly more free games). I just nabbed System Shock 2 for five bucks.

Title: GOG.com Independence Day / 4th of July / Summer Sale
Post by: Jorge D. Fuentes on July 04, 2013, 04:42:52 PM
So this site (http://www.gog.com/) is having some ridiculously cheap games and game bundles until tomorrow.

So I picked up Fez, Retro City Rampage, the Deus Ex bundle, and the Kain & Raziel bundle.
GAMES YO! xD

Dammit, Jorge! (http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php/topic,6262.0.html)

I picked up Fez and System Shock 2. They also updated Thief Gold and Thief II: The Metal Age so that the cutscenes and mission briefings finally work, and you can get up to pretty high widescreen resolutions. I'm looking forward to revisiting these two games after over a decade.

Yeah weren't you "DarkProjectThief" long ago?
You think I should sticky your thread, perhaps?  Not a bad Idea, no?

Mayhaps. For a while we had a number of GOG and/or Steam sale threads popping up, hence the mega-thread.

Yeah, DarkProjectThief was an old AIM handle and I used a lot of images from the games as avatars and sigs and stuff. Huge fan of those two games; System Shock 2 is by the same people and I've been meaning to play through it for a long time.

Oh my cack, y'all are missing out for having not bought the first two Thief games during this sale. Stuff like BioShock gets too much praise by comparison when it comes to immersive ways to tell a story in a first-person game, in my opinion. Even though it's the same scenario writer, I feel that Ken Levine shouldn't have strayed from the conventions set up by the other Looking Glass Studios developers for Thief; he copied DOOM 3 instead, which is unfortunate.

The only trouble with the first two games (or maybe it's just the first, I can't remember) is that playing on the hardest difficulty, you can't kill any guards, and sometimes ya REALLY just wanna off one or two of 'em! Especially if you're spotted, because your only options are to run away and hide or reload. I want some sword fights, dammit!

Reason I play on the hardest setting is you're given more fun mission objectives which are really satisfying to fulfill.

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

Check this:
Quote
A purchase of $1 or more gets you Origin* keys for all the games, and you can also get Steam keys for Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor, and Mirror's Edge! Beat the average to also get The Sims 3, two expansion packs in The Sims 3 Starter Pack, and Battlefield 3.

*Note: This bundle provides Origin keys for all the games on Windows, with The Sims 3 also available on Mac. Select games also come with Steam keys.

The average is $4.68 at the moment!  :o

Just any PC downloadable sales, really. If there are cool sales on Amazon, post 'em here, that sort of thing.

I'd probably get this Humble Bundle EA bargain if it weren't for the fact I'd have to download another client to download the games. I've never heard of Origin till now. Does it download games for you to play directly off the 'puter, or does it require login like Steam? It's bad enough I have Steam; I don't want another download/play client.

Its like Steam, but made by.... Eletronic Arts!

Dramatic Chipmunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Y73sPHKxw#)

But you can get keys for these games and activate them on Steam (not all of them, you will need to check which of them are available).

I'll not have the chance to buy any of these since I dont have a credit card lol

Cool GOG sale this weekend. A lot of games are a mere $1.49, like all the Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain sequels, Pandemonium 1 and 2, and Daikatana (for that price, I'll give Romero's supposed failure a whirl). The excellent Thief games are $3.49 each.

Sweet, I'm mighty tempted to pick up Anachronox for $1.50, I've only heard good things.

I originally made this for PC sales, but I guess it makes sense for consoles to be included as well.

PSN (North America only, I think) this weekend has 30 games for 99 cents each. Picked up a bunch myself. Regretting the dollar spent on Gex: Enter the Gecko.

Now christened with a new, simpler thread name!

Also, GOG was having a pretty good sale where users select which group of games are 75% off and which are 60%. Appears the whole list of games is now available all at one time for 39 more hours.

http://www.gog.com/gamerumble (http://www.gog.com/gamerumble)

Might be fun to check out the Unreal games. Played a lot of Unreal Tournament back in the day but have never played the main solo games.

And while not a sale, BioShock Infinite and Remember Me are free to play for PS+ subscribers right now. Think I might sign up for a few months to play 'em.

Gog's been having their spring insomnia sale (limited quantities of 100 different games being sold in rotation) and it's not really worth following if you don't want to spend your time waiting and hoping the game you want comes up next, and that you can buy it before it's gone. (I saw the 100 copies of Zork Anthology for $2 sell out in close to a minute flat, though most games are 400 - 800 copies.) Though I was able to snag the Quest for Glory games for about 2.25 and Wasteland and Betrayal at Krondor for 1.50 each. I still wound up buying some games I otherwise probably wouldn't have (Children of the Nile, Inquisitor) well played Gog, well played.

No fair man. Gog's additional weekend sale has some of the games I want most on my wishlist. Namely Ishar Compelation, Inherit the Earth and the Catacombs Pack. http://www.gog.com/promo/spring_weekend_promo_160514 (http://www.gog.com/promo/spring_weekend_promo_160514)

My Gamefly client seems to be broken.
So I went to the Gamefly site and it looks like Gamefly digital sales is being bought out.

"GameFly digital customers: GameFly has sold its digital download business to AtGames Holding Ltd. GameFly will continue to operate the digital download business for AtGames until later this year or until the transition is complete. Please click here for additional details concerning your user information."

I was planning on selling some of my steam cards to get the 99 cents for Curse, since it looks like it might be a neat Mummy-themed clone of the early resident evils. Mentioned it to my fiancee and she just went ahead and bought it for me lol XD now I really hope it doesn't suck.

There's another one of those $1 PSN flash sales going on, although these are mostly a few cents less than that. Some pretty good PS1 classics and such, like Mega Man X4 and X5, the Wild Arms games, Breath of Fire IV, Klonoa, and some PS2 and PS3 and PSP/Vita games. Check it out.
