Post by: BLOOD MONKEY on May 08, 2020, 08:16:46 AM
Just showing off a project I'm a part of.

Mega Man Shattered Diamond is a fan game for the classic Mega Man series being developed by Team Circadia for Windows 7 and newer. Featuring both Mega Man and Bass as playable characters and a new unique 8-bit art style inspired by Mega Man: The Wily Wars, the game hopes to deliver a fresh but familiar experience for Mega Man fans.

The game will feature, but is not limited to:
-Two playable characters: Mega Man and Bass;
-A new, unique 8-bit art style inspired by Mega Man: The Wily Wars;
-8 new Robot Master stages, an intro stage, and unique fortress stages;
-8 special weapons for your arsenal, plus returning Rush and Treble utilities;
-A new, original story with full pixel art cutscenes.

We have a fairly old demo out at the moment, but we're planning a big demo for release soon.

I don't know why continue to give Bass a rapid-fire weapon if it never works on boss characters. If it was like MM1 and MM2 then yes it would work really well. But ever since MM3 boss characters have that one second invincibility thing after taking damage so Bass' primary weapon is no different then Mega Man using his regular shots on them. On the other hand this game does look good! I do hope it'll work on my machine as the Mega Man Vs Street Fighter game didn't  :P

Neither of the characters are particularly strong against bosses on their own. It's manageable, but it's to encourage more experimentation with the boss and special weapons each character has access to. Weapon use will be a much more important part of the game than it was in the NES Megaman games.

Looks good. I've always been interested in making a MM style game myself. Maybe one day I'll try to iterate on my favorite game in the franchise, X1, but I have a hard time imagining how that game can be improved on... every aspect of it is fantastic.

Agreed. The original MMX was a SNES masterpiece. It's a shame the direction series went afterwards.

I think it looks the part, the area at 2:37 looks really nice in terms of classic MM.

The issue I personally have with most fan games is that the development cycles of the really good ones are typically so long that it's difficult to keep track of and I wind up losing interest.

Nice! Looks like it's pretty on-point.
The graphics are really good looking and more importantly, they have a consistent style.
Gotta add this one to my collection.
