No, no, They haven't QUITE reached Capcom levels of stupid yet. That will be something very hard to top. Rather Castlevania as a franchise has fallen in a similar boat to megaman in that Konami doesnt seem to be too sure what to do with it. the LoS timeline wont last forever, since Cox and MS seem intent on keeping it short and sweet rather than long and drawn out. After that's done, they will have to do something else, and their other two experiments in the past, Judgement and HD, were NOT too well received. For different reasons of course, but the point stands. And IGA himself and his Metroidvania entries, had started to get stale and not sell or review as well I guess.
HD was more well received than LoS (if you ignore the problems of the game and just see it from a sales perspective), from a sales perspective. It sold a lot in both XBLA and PSN.

LoS sold well too.

Not to mention Konami's got to be making money on HD's DLC. I know they made money off of me concerning that; I may be crazy, but I'm glad I got all the DLC. It just feels good, knowing I'm completely up to date on that sort of stuff.

Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Still stands though that the biggest complaint- the ONLy complaint with HD is how much of a rehashfest it is, reusing not only sprites, but areas too. it uses bits and pieces of levels from previous games to make new ones, and it's pretty shameful. The game in general just kind of irks me the way it was handled. It could have been handled MUCH better.

I like the fact that Julius can at least whip swing in HD, even if he is animated horribly in the new sprites.

Someone should resprite the new whip swing animation and use it in a Aria-era Super Castlevania IV fangame. Would be boss.

Julius DS sprite is bad as is. It needs to lose the black outline. I mean what's with that?

They actually DID cut the black outline from his sprites in HD. Just saying.

In my opinion, the 1999 game should never be made. Obviously, everyone has his own idea how that event turns out... and no one could do justice that.

But more importantly: Remember the first time you played AoS. You´re in the same boat as Soma and have no idea what is going on. "What, we are inside an eclipse? Dracula ultimately died in 1999? What the hell is going on here?".

Plus, there´s this guy named J, who makes hints about his past. So you, as a Fan, get a hunch who he really is. And maybe even Soma himself found this man familiar in some way, but this is only speculation on my part.

And then... the part where Soma realizes who he really is. Bam. That´s a suprise. But only if you didn´t read about it on the internet, that is.

So, my point is, there is this unique feeling about AoS that would be destroyed if they ever made that game. Leave it to your imagination.
But people can’t be ruled by power alone! The sacred, the honorable, the loved…those things can rule humanity. Something evil will eventually FALL TO RUIN!!

Michael Belmont ascends the stairs to Dracula's Keep. As he enters the throne room, the lord of darkness rises from his seat to greet his new guest.

"Okay, fuck you. Yeah, I said it. Why wouldn't I know how to curse? I've been coming back to this fucking world century after century, sometimes twice in a century. And every time you assholes just waltz in and ruin everything. What the fuck did I ever do to you? Fine, you want me to leave this world alone? So be it! I'll fucking leave. Here, take the fucking castle; I won't destroy it this time. The place is a fixer-upper anyway. Call Bob Villa if you want."

Dracula turns into a bat and flies out one of the tower windows. Michael stands in the empty throne room in amazement. He pulls out his cellphone and calls his fiance.

"Hey hun. I'll be home in a bit. Hey, you know how we were talking about getting a nice home to raise our kids in?"
