Drac9 is right.  I think you might even be able to expand that to a more general statement on how everyone tends to be more hard on their own selves, especially when compared to how hard others are on them.

I'm doing the same thing for this contest -- being much harder on myself than I should be.  While it may be my first time spriting, I'm sure I'm not an idiot, nor am I incompetent.  And from what I've seen you sprite, you most certainly aren't those things either, so keep your chin up!  And don't give up either!  You seem to have a talent for this!
By the way...I LOOOVE the mushroom, particularly because of your description! X-D  Hilarious!  Way to show that creative wit!

Nothing wrong with pushing yourself, but eventually you have to drop that mindset so that you get more confident in your abilities.

In the long run you start to become a better artist because you are able to judge your own work more honestly while still pushing yourself to make it to that next level.
