Topic: Umm, what happened to the old board?

So what's the story with it? Why did it get ugly?
Do you think this will start two diverse boards now--like some alternate reality?
Anyway glad to have the old board back not...if I can only find that Garfield avatar from 4-5 years ago.

Well, to tell you in a short story. Forum Planet screwed things up pretty bad with their "forum upgrade", that was announced a while back. When it finally came a reality, it messed up peoples post counts, names, the layout, added massive flash ads and generally made the board feel shoddy. (To an uncomfortable point for many.)

Some of the problems are apparently fixable, but the place is pretty much beyond repair, after the fallout. Sad that the legacy of that place will be no more, seeing how it's planned for everyone to move here. (and for the old forum to be possibly nuked?)

So nope, I don't think there'll be an alternate reality of these forums.

What kind of "forum upgrade" rips and tears the forum to the point that the admins must make a new one? I kinda hope the old one gets nuked, comparing the looks from that one, to this one.

Nice. So it's official! This IS the CVD forum. Chris said he was still working on figuring out if the threads from the old forum can be ported to the new forum, which is the only thing stopping that place from being burninated by now.
