it makes sense but CV2 is still in a league of its own having a connected open world with realtime changing weather/day/night, TOWNS with actual townspeople (not just some mere OOE village that needs to be filled with villagers), and unorthodox progression that rewards exploration and solving secrets, overall CV2 is a genre in itself. it really has lots of potential with its own class of Castlevania style and stuff.
SOTN type games are more like Metroid, while Castlevania II is really its own thing, though yea it would have been cooler with a selection of hunters to choose from and play as instead of reusing Simon for another game. They could added Sonia and other characters.
