Now, all we have to do is wait for the simple-minded news-broadcasters on Fox to take this story and make it seem like it wasn't two drunk teenagers that killed a girl in an intoxicated fit of stupidity, but Mortal Kombat...
...yes, the 15+ year old game Mortal Kombat...

only one word --> "lolz"

wow there sure are some immature teens in the world, 16 year olds reenacting mortal kombat moves, lol. Yeah lets blame the game cuz two kids decided to act like complete dumbasses and caused a tragedy. I guess if they were immitating the power rangers the media would be all over that, geez. I'm getting tired of people using entertainment as a scapegoat, people need to own up to what they do and not blame it on things that are created to get people to have fun.

After seraching on it... I'm suprised... a lot of new sites are being more reasonable, and blaming the alcohol as they should.
Well, I wanna see how anyone will disregard the alcohol... *cough*jackthopson*cough* but I doubt even our infamous lawyer can't disregard it completely.

Blaming things like human stupidity on video games, the greatest thing in existance, is crap. It was all their fault, not the games!

He'll say the alcohol was encouraged by video games.

Yeah I hate that guy, it's just stupid to argue against progress, videogames aren't going anywhere and they're here to stay no matter how much he keeps bitching all this bs. Y'know it'd be funny if he was a closet gamer. ;D

The exact same article, word-for-word, appears at Foxnews, CNN.com, and yahoonews. Why the cheap shot at Fox?

The article itself wasn't sensationalism. But Fox has a record for that stuff.

Halo 3 = Trash Talk City (actual instances are a rarity)

A media company? Sensationalizing a story? Never!
You still haven't explained the cheap shot.

I haven't seen instances of such sensationalism on other, non-Murdoch news sources, at least to such a degree. Therefor, it is my belief that if any media company were to sensationalize this story, it would be Fox. If you can find current evidence of other news corporations pulling off sensationalism to such a ridiculous degree, I'll take my point back.

It's the job of the news media to find stories. In my line of work, I see quite of few incidents that are later reported by the media, and they're often either overlooked or completely re-written for release to the public, depending on much media fodder they present. In other words, a story will likely only make the news if the media can turn it into something that will surprise the public or make them think about an issue in a different way. In my experience, most major media stories have at least some twisting or stretching of the truth, because that makes the story better.
This is sensationalizing. It's essentially the job of the media to do it. And it's not just Fox news that distorts stories.
